Could you be the person to give her the happy ending she deserves? Pud is a female Lurcher/Whippet-type dog, medium-sized with a strong, athletic build. Her exact age is unknown, but she is physically fit and healthy. She was rescued in a terrible condition and has received the veterinary care she desperately needed. Although she has permanent wounds to her face and scarring across her body, she is now safe, healing and ready to begin the next chapter of her life. She does have some hair loss, which we believe is likely related to her poor condition. Thankfully, she is gradually improving and looking better week by week. It is wonderful to see her slowly recover. Her personality is what makes her so special Despite everything she has endured, she is genuinely one of the softest, sweetest dogs you could ever meet. She absolutely adores people, loves cuddles and is happiest when she can curl up on the sofa for a cosy snooze beside someone she trusts. She has been carefully tested around food and toys and has shown no aggression whatsoever. She is a gentle, affectionate girl who simply wants to feel safe and loved. She could live in a family home with children, although we feel a home without babies, toddlers or very young children would be safest. Because of her existing injuries, little ones could accidentally hurt her without meaning to. What about other animals? Because of her difficult past, we believe it is safest to walk her on a lead and have her wear a muzzle around other animals. With her muzzle fitted and her lead on, she is not reactive and happily walks around other dogs. Her future home must be understanding of this precaution and committed to keeping her and other animals safe. A puppy was handed in yesterday - the story was he had been 'found' - but as is so often the case, we are pretty certain the 'finder' was the owner! The puppy, now named PIPER, had clearly suffered a a broken leg and the Council would not, understandably, be able to cover the costs of hospitalisation and repair. Piper has spent the last 24 hours in the veterinary hospital and after x-rays confirming and splinting and pain relief he has gone to stay with the kennel owner who has become a friend over the years and will care for him in her home until Tuesday when he will hopefully have the necessary surgery to repair the leg. Suzie 🐾 PLEASE READ THE FULL APPEAL FOR ALL INFORMATION BEFORE GETTING IN TOUCH. We are looking for a very special home for Suzie, an adorable 11-week-old black and white female Whippet. Suzie is a lovely, bright and affectionate puppy with a fantastic temperament. She is playful, inquisitive, and very food motivated, and has already made a wonderful start with her training. She has been clicker trained and knows her name, can sit and stay for around 10 seconds, and is already learning to “boop” from a distance of 2–3 metres — giving her a great foundation for developing her recall as she grows. She is very food motivated, which makes her particularly responsive and easy to train. She is also doing exceptionally well with her toilet training, now toileting outside with only the occasional nighttime accident. Suzie has lived with two cats and has been gentle, playful and inquisitive around them. Unfortunately, one of the resident cats has found the arrival of a puppy extremely difficult and has become very distressed. Alongside some unforeseen sensory challenges within the family, this has led to the decision that finding Suzie a new home while she is still very young and adaptable is in her best interests. Suzie is also very good in the car and travels well. She enjoys listening to music and is generally a lovely little companion when out and about. We are therefore looking for a loving, committed home where Suzie can settle in and form strong lifelong bonds. Ideally, we would like to find her a home with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to interact appropriately with a puppy, and preferably with someone who has experience of Whippets or sighthounds. Breed experience would be a real advantage, although the most important thing is finding people who understand the commitment involved in raising a young Whippet and can provide her with the patience, training, companionship and exercise she needs. Suzie will be rehomed with all of her essentials to help make the transition to her new home as easy as possible. This includes the food she is currently used to and her favourite treats. Her current diet is James Wellbeloved kibble and puppy pouches, with ¼ scoop of kibble mixed with ¼ of a pouch. Her favourite snacks are Lily’s Kitchen chicken and turkey chews and Wainwright’s freeze-dried chicken, which she particularly enjoys mixed into her food — around 5–6 chunks is plenty. She also has 5 chunks of freeze-dried chicken just before bed as part of her current routine to help keep her blood sugars stable. She loves Lily’s Kitchen treats, especially the chicken and turkey puppy treats. As she is so food motivated, these are also useful for her ongoing training. Suzie is microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed and has no known medical issues. A full veterinary report is available. She is not yet spayed. This is a much-loved puppy who deserves a wonderful start in life, and we will be taking care to find the right match rather than simply the quickest home. Sadly due to the owners health , Odin needs someone who can provide him the stimulation and attention he needs. He is very much loved but would be best in a home with someone who can give him lots of walks and attention. 
He is chipped and neutered and healthy with no concerns. 
Odin can be wary of strangers to begin with and would need a little time to get use to anyone new. 
He is okay with some pets and can be wary of others - due to this, he’d be best in a home with no other pets to save him any unsettlement. 
Odin eats dry and wet food and is also crate trained. 
He loves toys and can be strong on the lead. 
Odin has had the same owner since being a pup. 
He isn’t a fan of the hoover but does love to play with a ball. 
He is more of a fan of women than men, so may be best with a lone female looking for company, although we will consider male households too.

For months Paris Shears did not know who was doing it. Someone behind a fake Instagram account was sending her nude images of herself that had been made by AI. Then an article of her own stolen underwear came back to her through the post. Then a package containing male bodily fluids. Then her What3Words location, so she would know he knew where she was. She moved her 3 children from Airbnb to Airbnb and slept with a knife under her pillow. The culprit was Jakob Ward, 28, her ostensible brother-in-law. The police caught him through the DNA in the package. At Winchester Crown Court the judge, Christopher Parker KC, called his actions "despicable, depraved" and sent him to prison for 32 months. But if you follow this account you'll know that 32 months is not what he will serve. Since October 1st 2026, under the government's Sentencing Act, most prisoners are released at a third of their sentence. Ward, with the time he has already spent on remand, could be out in about nine months. Paris Shears walked out of court, in her words, "feeling like another victim of the very system I have spent so long fighting to change." Rapists and the most serious child sex offenders are excluded from the new scheme, and so, more recently, are killers. Stalkers are not. Neither are men convicted of sharing intimate images, nor those convicted of coercive control. In July 2024 the government promised that anyone serving 4 years or more for a serious violent offence would be kept out of early release altogether. But that promise has gone too. So the sentence a judge reads out in an English courtroom is now a kind of public performance. "Despicable, depraved" goes in the newspaper. 32 months goes in the newspaper. Then the Ministry of Justice divides by 3 in private, and the man who mailed a terrified mother her own underwear is home before her children have finished the school year. The ministers who wrote the rule know exactly what it does. They kept rapists out because they knew how that would look. They let stalkers through because a stalker's victim does not, as a rule, have a newspaper column. The belief underneath is the one that runs the whole justice system: that a prison place is the scarcest thing in the country and a woman's peace of mind the most plentiful, and that when one must give way to the other, it will be her. Progress will abolish automatic early release for every indictable offence. The sentence a judge passes will be the sentence served, every day of it. Not enough room in jail? Then we'll build more prison places. There's nothing to it. Anybody who wishes you to believe otherwise is trying to sell you something that's very bad for you. Paris Shears has started her own petition, asking that stalkers and domestic abusers be excluded from early release. She should not have to. She has been made to fight her stalker, then the court, and now the Ministry of Justice, with nothing on her side but her own nerve.

In November 1941 the richest man in America drove his twenty-three-year-old daughter to a hospital in Washington without telling her mother, had two surgeons drill holes in her skull and cut into the front of her brain while she sang God Bless America to them, and when the singing stopped she had a mental age of two and the family did not speak her name for twenty years. Rosemary Kennedy was the third child and the first girl, and she was slow. A nurse at the birth had held Rose Kennedy's legs together for two hours while they waited for the doctor, and the baby had been starved of air. She learned to read and write, but late, and in a family where the boys were being bred for the presidency and the girls for the right marriage, she was the one who could not keep up, the one who had to be coached and watched and given the simpler part in the photograph. She was also, by every account, the prettiest of them, and when the family went to London in 1938 she was presented at court in a white dress and curtsied to the King without a mistake. Then she was twenty-one, and the trouble started. Moods. Rages. Slipping out of the convent school at night and coming back in the morning and not saying where. The nuns said she might be meeting men. For Joseph Kennedy, who was managing his sons towards the White House and could not have a daughter who might get pregnant or get talked about, that was the end of it. He had read about a new operation. Walter Freeman had promised the newspapers it calmed the agitated, and Joe Kennedy had never in his life been told that a thing he could pay for would not work. Rosemary was given a mild sedative and kept awake. Freeman and his surgeon, James Watts, opened the skull on both sides and Watts pushed a blade into the frontal lobes and swept, while Freeman asked her to recite the Lord's Prayer and sing, and count backwards, so they would know how far to go. They went until she was incoherent. Then they stopped. She came out of it unable to walk or speak. Years of therapy got her a few words and a limp. Joe moved her to a private hospital in New York and then to a convent school in Wisconsin, told the family she was teaching the retarded in the Midwest, and never went to see her. Rose, her mother, was not told what had been done until long after, and did not visit for twenty years. The brothers and sisters, including the one who became President, were told she was away. When Joe had his stroke in 1961 and could no longer manage the story, Eunice went to Wisconsin and found a woman of forty-three who did not know her, and came home and started the Special Olympics. Rosemary lived to eighty-six, in the convent, and died in 2005 with her surviving sisters at the bed. The brother who became President had signed the first federal mental health law in 1963, and the family has said she was the reason. Freeman kept operating for another twenty-six years. His notes on Rosemary have never been released. That is what the expert's confidence looks like when it meets a powerful man with an inconvenient child. The science was published. The father was certain. The daughter sang to the surgeon until she could not. Every institution that has ever decided it knows what is wrong with you and how to tidy it has the same two ingredients in the room, and the person on the table is still the only one who pays.

This handsome lad is still waiting for a new home. Teddy is a 5 year old male Mastiff mix - he is available and looking for a new home. He eats Ava sensitive skin and stomach mix from Pets at Home. Teddy is good in the car but only use to short journeys. He sleeps in the kitchen at night but would sometimes also sleep in his owners bed. He is registered with the vets and can be left on his own if you need to go out. Teddy is a big boy, he may knock small kids over, so he would suit a home with older dog savvy kids 10+. He loves people and is good once he gets a clap, but he is wary of men wearing hats. Teddy walks well on the lead and he use to go walking with a dog walker and was fine. Teddy loves a ball rope, he likes to chew on the rope until it's untied. He likes treats. There isn't much that Teddy doesn't like, however he doesn't like the sound of metal/shutter noise as he got a fright when he was a puppy. Teddy loves lying in bed under the covers. He would be best in a home with no other pets or cats. He isn't really fussed by other dogs when he is out walking. Teddy knows basic commands.
