Whatever you think of Piers Morgan (I’m not a fan), there’s no denying that he has a huge audience. Whether people tune in solely because he’s basically the political Jerry Springer is another story, but still, he does have reach.
He’s also a multimillionaire, and his wealth, combined with how well-known his name is, provides him with an abundance of connections.
The one thing Piers, unlike many others, could very easily do is travel to Israel, travel to the Gaza border, and potentially even be let into Gaza itself, under escort and protection, of course, as well as speak directly with the IDF.
But he won’t do that.
And the ONLY reason he won’t do that is because:
A. His viewing figures would plummet because he’d have to make some uncomfortable admissions that he was wrong about parts of his Gaza narrative.
B. He’d actually have to push back against the likes of Mehdi Hasan and Cenk Uygur, who are regulars on his show, and they might even refuse to keep appearing altogether.
The last thing Piers is interested in is serious journalism.
And as for a representative of the IDF not appearing on his show, so what? I’m sure they have more important things to do than engage in endless back and forths with terrorist sympathiser Mehdi Hasan.
