@klarnaseb here are some ideas based on work we are doing with other PSPs: 1. Real-time merchant payouts in emerging markets: using stablecoins in between the funding currency (e.g. EUR, USD) and the local currency, you can typically cut down settlement times from T+2/3 to real-time/T+0 2. USD treasury accounts based on stablecoins: allow your merchants to mint your stablecoin (or their own) for settled revenues. Instead of settling in USD/EUR, you convert to your stablecoin, deposit in their wallet (could be custodial or non-custodial), and you have a rev share on interest from the underlying deposits. Whenever the merchant wants to cash out, you convert back to local currency. 3. Stablecoin payment acceptance: allow merchants anywhere to accept a stablecoin like USDC (either in one time or split) as an APM. Settles instantly to the merchant, and from there you can enable them to hold (see point 2 above) or auto-convert to local currency (see point 1). Stablecoins are programmable, so it's easy to adjust from there. We're enabling these use cases at @walapay_io, and are building specifically for PSPs and fintechs. Every great idea deserves a great analogy. With all the recent energy in stablecoins, I’ve been testing ways to describe why it's a game changer in global payments. When explaining @withparallax, I talk about how stablecoins fit into the larger cross border payments evolution..

I'm not really one for resolutions or single-year predictions, but I do think now is a good to put some stakes in the ground, as 2024 felt like a tipping point for crypto and AI. Here are a few predictions for the next 3-5 years at the intersection of payments, crypto, and AI. 1. Stablecoin supply will cross $1T in 2025. This would represent a 5x increase from today. 2. In the next year, we will see a dominant EUR stablecoin that grows to >$100B in supply. I also think we will see a European-licensed bank launch a EUR stablecoin on a public blockchain (probably H2). In the next 3 years, we will see a GBP stablecoin follow suit. 3. In the next 3 years, we will see onchain FX markets really take off. I think while we're starting to see this with long-tail crypto assets vs. USD (e.g. BRLA vs. USDT), this will tip into massive volumes once we have real contenders for EUR / GBP / SGD stablecoins. 4. A major catalyst of stablecoin growth is going to be privacy-preserving transactions. In ~3 years, I think 1/3 of stablecoin transactions will execute privately (this can take different shapes, including via permissioned chains like Ripplenet, but much more excitingly on L1s/L2s that are private by default - hello ZK / TEEs) 5. This year, we will see a stablecoin-based neobank reach >10m active customers. To qualify, I think you need a) self-custodial wallets, b) stablecoins as your checking account, c) access to tokenized treasuries or other securities as a "savings account", and d) a card linked to your checking account that draws down from your stablecoin balance. 6. AI agents x crypto: I'm generally bearish on the current meta, and I think we will see the AI memecoins peter out over the course of the year. On the other hand, we will see some truly autonomous agents surface in 2025 - my bet is one of the big areas of focus will be prediction markets. I can see agents being built on custom models that focus on specific niches, equipped with a stablecoin wallet, go after various markets on @Polymarket etc. 7. Several SOL ETFs will be approved in the US by end of year. 8. NFTs will NOT come back in 2025. Define that how you will. 9. The proliferation of AIs online, flooding (polluting?) spaces like X, is finally the catalyst that will bring native online ID into existence. I think this will take ~5 years, and I'm not sure exactly what this looks like, but I know @provenauthority has some ideas 👀 10. This year, @Stripe will file for an IPO. I think with the Trump admin coming in, the IPO market will open up - and it might just be the right time for Stripe. @SpaceX (maybe just Starlink) is another candidate here. Differing conf intervals on the above, but what I am sure about beyond any doubt is this: 2025 is going to be an epic year. 🚀
