Manchester City Have Been Found Guilty. Now Comes the Real Test. Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty of 114 of 115 Premier League financial-rule charges covering a nine-year period. Now the verdict is out. The sanctions must follow. This is bigger than Manchester City. It is about whether the Premier League's financial rules actually mean what they say. Everton were handed a points deduction after being found in breach of the league's Profitability and Sustainability Rules. Nottingham Forest were also punished for a PSR breach. Manchester City's case is different in nature and scale, involving an extraordinary number of charges across several seasons. That does not automatically dictate a particular punishment, but it does make one thing unavoidable: the sanction must properly reflect the findings of the independent commission. The Premier League cannot demand that smaller clubs respect its financial rules while appearing reluctant to enforce those same rules when the biggest clubs are involved. No club should be above the regulations. If the rules were broken, the consequences must be meaningful, transparent and consistent with the seriousness of the findings. This is no longer about 115 charges. It is about whether Premier League rules are actually rules—or merely guidelines for clubs that cannot afford to break them.

This is Dieter Schwarz - the owner of Lidl, the richest man in Germany, one of the richest people in the world. He lives in Heilbronn, in Germany, and has transformed the area into an educational/tech/research hub, as well as funding educational activities at Oxford, HEC Paris, Stanford and many others. Technically, he doesn't actually own Lidl any more, as he set up 'The Dieter Schwarz Foundation' - a charity - which owns the Schwarz Group, the parent company of Lidl. In other words, Lidl is owned by a charity that ploughs lots of money into educational causes - and yet Lidl never use any of that in advertising. One of the most successful, interesting people on earth, and nobody even knows what he looks like any more.

Veteran, Ian, who spent years collecting poppies for the Royal British Legion (RBL) has passed away, and his care home team is appealing to the Lancashire community to give him the honourable send off he deserves. The veteran, who served with the RAF and had Parachute Regiment connections, passed away peacefully on August 31. Having spent his retirement actively supporting fellow service members, he leaves behind no known surviving family or next of kin. Care home staff arranging his funeral are calling on local military organisations, veterans, standard bearers, and members of the public to stand in as his family for one final salute. A funeral will take place on Thursday, September 24, at 3pm, at Accrington Crematorium, Burnley Road, Accrington.
