One of the reasons this is super interesting is that you actually see the same playbook used against Jair Bolsonaro, Donald Trump, and Nigel Farage.
Basically an institutional alignment of the blob, NGOs, legal apparatus, media, tech platform censorship came together and did whatever it could to prevent their rise to power.
All three have also been targets of real violence.
Lawfare:
> Brazil’s electoral court barred Bolsonaro from office until 2030 over his attacks on the voting system; criminal cases followed on the January 2023 riots, state gifts, and vaccine records.
> Trump was indicted in multiple jurisdictions while campaigning, with the cases timed across the run-up to the 2024 election
> Farage faces a parliamentary standards probe over an undeclared £5 million gift, National Crime Agency interest in related transfers, and a sketchy "Channel 4" sting on foreign donations that was funded by... foreigners. This is based on private info which was, "miraculously" leaked.
Speech and platforms:
> In Brazil, Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered removal of Bolsonaro-linked accounts; when X refused, the platform was blocked nationwide in 2024, with Lula’s public backing, and restored only after compliance.
> After Jan 6, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube removed Trump; Apple, Google, and Amazon then cut off Parler. This deprived the leading opposition figure of his largest direct channels in the years before he ran again
> Farage was de-banked by Coutts. They closed his bank accounts citing his Brexit views and Trump association
Russia and scandal framing.
> Trump spent years under the collusion narrative. Blob and media kept pushing the Steele dossier
> Bolsonaro’s circle was tied to “disinformation” and coup inquiries
> Farage has been pressed over a jailed former colleague who took Russian bribes, old Putin remarks, and a Russia Today appearance from ten years ago
Threats to physical security:
> Bolsonaro was stabbed in 2018 during the presidential campaign. A judge later found him not criminally liable because of persistent delusional disorder and ordered indefinite psychiatric detention. He was assessed as still dangerous years later. Bolsonaro has long said he believes others were behind it; investigators did not establish that.
> Trump's had multiple assassination attempts on his life
> Farage had an attempt on his life that was mishandled and initially downplayed by the police. In April 2025 a lit incendiary device was pushed through the letterbox of his home. Officers told him the CCTV had not captured the suspect and closed the case.
> Later, a man charged with the murder of Farage's party spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe would be found to have been the same person that the police later admitted was the suspect was on the footage of the CCTV. The man has now been charged with preparing terror acts against Farage
For both Trump and the Bolsonaro family, it seems that the more the machine blatantly moves against them to suppress the democratic will of the people, the more support for them hardened. Voters could see through it.
Whether the British people recognize the same patterns and tactics are used against Farage remains open.
What we are witnessing in Brazil is the biggest political backfire in modern political history.
Communist tyrants came after Brazil’s Trump, Jair Bolsonaro.
He survived an assassination attempt.
They banned him from running for office.
Then they threw him in jail.
They accused him of attempting a coup after his election was stolen, just like they did here to Trump.
He’s currently serving a 27 year prison sentence.
The response: His wife won a Senate seat. His son Carlos won a Senate seat. His son Renan won a seat in Congress. His son Flávio is ahead of Lula for president of Brazil.
His son could unseat the very tyrant who threw him in jail.
The persecution of Bolsonaro has backfired into a political retribution against those who weaponized Government against the people's will.
You might be able to try to silence a man but you cannot silence a movement.
