It's weird how the states were able to achieve a complete overhaul of the election process within a matter of weeks during covid to change it to a mail ballot system, but now cry that it will take years to change it back to a safe and secure process.

Let’s talk about the US mail. I wrote a thank you note in late June. Yes. An honest-to-God, handwritten thank you note. Put a stamp on it, put it in the mailbox, put up the little red flag. Next day, little red flag is down, mailbox is empty. I live in North Carolina, the addressee is in Washington, DC. On Aug 27, I received the following text from the person to whom the thank you note was addressed: “I just got an envelope addressed to me from you, postmarked June 23, but the envelope was opened and nothing was in it. Do you recall what was in it?” I said “a thank you note to you for….” I asked if she could send a photo of the envelope. Yup. That is the envelope with my return address…. Addressed to my friend. It took 9 weeks plus two days for a simple first class piece of mail to arrive at its destination from NC to the District of Columbia, and it was missing the contents. Then today, I saw an email chain on the NextDoor app, which I occasionally peruse. What got my attention was that the starting post was from someone who lives nearby who had paid some bills by writing checks, putting them into the envelope with stamps, placing the envelopes in his mailbox, and subsequently learning that the mail had been stolen, the checks cleared his bank account the next day from a location a few towns away. Bad stuff. But the response from all the replies was totally unsympathetic. All the replies were that “you cannot possibly put a check in the mailbox and be surprised that it is then stolen or mis-delivered”. With all the accompanying stories of similar bad experiences. And yet, we are all supposed to suspend our brains when the subject turns to voting by mail. @realDonaldTrump is somehow a dictator for trying to make sure that ballots sent / returned by mail are tracked, that the addresses are accurate, the voters are citizens … and the Democrats and some puke GOP Secretaries of State howl about how trying to secure this absurdly insecure system is a terrible, awful thing. Couple of thoughts: We MUST reduce the quantity of voting by mail by reestablishing true “absentee” voting. The only people who should be allowed to vote by mail are those who cannot get to the polls to vote in person. That would significantly increase the possibility that the ballots cast by mail might be authentic and timely. The reduction in volume might help with oversight of the process. I emphasize “might”. But here’s the real question: If you won the lottery….would you put your winning lottery ticket in an envelope, put a stamp on it and put it in the US mail? I didn’t think so. Neither would I. And my ballot, my vote, is easily as valuable as a lottery ticket. Let’s all be very clear about what happened on the Senate floor overnight. The Senate voted 52-48 in favor of a VOTER ID bill But the bill still isn’t passed. -@BasedMikeLee and @JonHusted offered a STAND ALONE bill to require VOTER ID for federal elections. EVERY @SenateGOP voted YES! 100% yes from Senate Republicans And EVERY @SenateDems voted NO. That’s right. 100% no from Senate Democrats. It is easy to beat up on the Senate GOP leadership. I’ve done my share because @LeaderJohnThune is not a strong leader IMHO But let’s face the facts and the numbers: There are 53 Senate Republicans and @senmitchmcConn is out due to illness. Total 52 GOP Senators A majority, right? Why do we need 60 votes to pass SAVE America Act? We cannot pass the SAVE America Act through the Senate because not ONE Democrat will vote yes. Not one. Not only that but not a single Democrat will vote in favor of allowing SAVE America Act to be considered for final passage on the bill. And the only way to overcome the Democrats’ refusal to allow SAVE America Act to proceed to a vote is if there are 60 votes to allow it. There are only 52 Republicans. No Democrats will vote to allow the vote. Read that again: @SenateDems won’t agree to allow a vote. @SenateDems know the bill would PASS with a simple majority. There are enough Republican votes to pass #SAVEAmericaAct but not enough Republicans to overcome the unanimous blocking of the bill. @SenateDems are blocking the SAVE America Act and have been since February. So let’s finally lay the blame where it rightly belongs: @SenateDems are lockstep in OPPOSING: -proof of citizenship to register to vote - voter ID to cast a vote - cleaning voter rolls. It is why we MUST defeat these Senate Democrats this fall. We need to be rid of these creeps. No SAVE America Act = NO Democrats for US Senate. Anywhere. Everywhere. These so-called news outlets refuse to even acknowledge that perhaps it might be a problem that China accessed and possesses hundreds of millions of election records and data, but that seems to be of no interest to them....all of them are parroting the same ol' same ol' lies today "nothing to see here...no news...nothing new....move on...." The leader of the corrupt elections movement @marceelias started last Monday demanding that the leftist media both ignore AND attack @realDonaldTrump for giving the speech, @politico ran multiple articles this week quoting anonymous GOP consultants and the "smart" people in the White House complaining about @realdonaldtrump GIVING the speech and working overtime (unsuccessfully) to dilute his message.... Tonight @realDonaldTrump will address the nation. Reports are that the President will declassify and publish documents and records about the 2020 election, disclosing to the world serious and very significant FACTS that the legacy media, the Biden Regime, and the vast leftwing network of anti-American pro-corrupt elections cabal have spent the last 5 years lying about. And not only lying, but punishing, ridiculing, attacking, silencing anyone who has DARED to ask questions. What’s utterly beyond me is this: Why would anyone actively seek to keep this information from becoming public? Why would anyone NOT want the country to know and understand threats to our elections? After all, it was former DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson in the waning weeks of the Obama presidency who added “elections” to the list of America’s critical infrastructure. Elections ARE critical infrastructure under the law. Any threats to or vulnerabilities in our elections - the entire system - are deemed a threat to the security of our country. If there are such threats, it is the duty of the President to take steps to mitigate the threats. Elias wrote, “…on Thursday night….he will use this time to once again lie about elections.” Seriously? @marceelias can’t bother to wait and actually see and hear the speech? Review the documents? The screed he published on Monday called on the media to argue against whatever @realDonaldTrump may say tonight. And here is the most demented comment of all: “Sadly, right now, too few people in positions of power are willing to loudly criticize Trump for his lies. Even worse, the once-proud legacy media has proven itself too timid to speak clearly about Trump and his lies” I had actually not noticed a reticence on the part of the leftwing media to attack Pres Trump and his agenda, his Administration, his supporters, his policies. What is most disturbing about the steady Elias drumbeat this week is that it is so devoid of reason as to disclose his hatred NOT just of @realDonaldTrump but of anything approaching honesty and integrity in elections. Is he worried that somehow there are disclosures that will reveal his role in the attacks on our elections? It is hard to fathom the extremes that @marceelias has gone to in the past several years to destroy America’s elections, starting with lawsuits challenging election laws in state after state as early as 2019 - well before COVID. Elias has devoted himself to corrupt elections - arguing for dirty voter rolls, for removing all safeguards that would require basic proof of identity and eligibility to vote, allowing noncitizens and illegals to vote in our elections, creating as much chaos as possible in the elections with massive mail ballots that deprive voters of the protections and support when voting in person, turning Election Day into election three months, stealing votes of homeless and vulnerable people in group homes, homeless shelters,memory care units… and on and on. Every vestige of integrity in the system must according to Elias, be eliminated. All under the guise of “convenience”. It is a lie.
