On 9/11/01 I was a freshman cadet at the Air Force Academy. I was in computer science and the instructor turned on the TV so we could watch what was happening. AFA trains a large number of our combat pilots and there was a major concern that we could be a target. NORAD as well, which is also in Colorado Spings. We went on lock down for months. Permanent changes in security protocols. My room mate could hear planes and it was confirmed that patrol was being flown above us. Cadets quit so they could enlist and fight sooner. Im from NY, one of my roommates from the Bronx and our classmate from long Island- he in particular knew a larfe number of people who lost family. We trained knowing that we no longer in relative peace time.

Excited to share our new review in @CellCellPress. We propose fibrosis is a reversible state encoded in chromatin circuits shaped by immune-stromal crosstalk, and that rewiring this logic may offer durable therapeutic paths. @GladstoneInst authors.elsevier.com/sd/arti…

It arrived! Almost 2 years from writing to award. I remember sitting on the couch nauseous, 3 months pregnant writing this one and Brody had his first birthday this month. We have filled on Postdoc position and are looking for a second talented individual to join us.

We've all quietly accepted that antibodies don't work. We all ordered 4-5 at 500 USD each, test them, keep whichever one binds. In any other context that's buying 5 phones and planning to throw away 4, which is crazy. Seems now ~18,000 vendor validation images across 15 catalogs were manipulated. Reminds me also of a prior study that found more than half of commercial antibodies didn't work as advertised. Estimated cost, over 1 billion USD a year. ...such a waste of research money.

Back when my lab did a lot of ChIP-seq, we spent a lot of time validating our antibodies. Roughly half were bad. Now we know why.

Preprint on @10xGenomics Atera single cell whole transcriptome analyses (WTA) platform biorxiv.org/content/10.64898… One demonstrated advantage is single cell resolution inferred CNV that can be mapped with co-occurring tumor microenvironmental alterations. Great for precursor lesions.
