It’s important to know that people like @RahmEmanuel, @neeratanden & the entire Corporate Dem faction they represent will never feel shame for spearheading the corporate politics that immiserated the working class & created the backlash conditions that destroyed the Democratic Party & led to Trump’s ascent. NAFTA, deregulation, austerity, donor fealty, oligarchy, elite impunity and historic Dem electoral losses are their legacy — and they rely on nobody in media or politics ever holding them accountable for the consequences of their politics. Their shamelessness isn’t incidental. Shamelessness is their *brand* — it’s depicted by elite media as a form of laudable “toughness.” Displaying absolutely no shame about all the wreckage and human suffering their politics helped create is their proud unique selling proposition. They will never feel bad about what they did. They will never apologize. So stop asking them to. Instead, just focus on doing the work to make sure they do not ever again get to wield any power.

The fundamental perspective of centrists is that leftists should not be allowed to participate in politics in any capacity. We’re not allowed to run against mainstream Dems in primaries or build third parties or even say mean things about centrist Dems, because that’s sexist.

People defend capitalism because they confuse it with commerce. They believe “capitalism” is when people start businesses and sell things. If people understood that the thing they call capitalism and love so much is actually just commerce and that it’s not the same thing as capitalism, they would feel very different. This is because a local baker selling bread, a mechanic fixing cars, or an artisan selling wares on a digital storefront is a sign of commerce in a market economy, which is simply a mechanism for exchanging goods and services based on supply and demand. Needless to say, this has existed for thousands of years before capitalism was created. As economic historian Fernand Braudel pointed out, commerce and capitalism are not only distinct; but historically, they have often operated at cross-purposes. According to Braudel, ordinary commerce is competitive and transparent, while capitalism is anti-competitive and deliberately opaque, making it a zone of privilege held by a small elite who bend the rules in their favour. Braudel further argues that commerce, or the market, is horizontal, transparent, and competitive and as old as civilization itself. It involves individuals or small groups trading goods, where barriers to entry are low, no single player dominates, and profit is a reward for fulfilling a specific need. Capitalism, meanwhile, is a specific institutional arrangement that emerged relatively recently in human history, around the 16th to 17th centuries. It is NOT just people “trading stuff”. It is instead the legal and financial system where the means of production are privately owned, and the primary objective is the continuous, infinite accumulation of capital. Because of this accumulation-obssessed nature of capitalism, when it scales up, it seeks to eliminate the free play of commerce to protect its investments. True market competition is risky for massive capital as it drives prices down and threatens profit margins. Braudel contended that capitalism only begins where commerce ends. It is the zone of high finance and state collusion. Because it operates across vast distances such as the 17th-century spice trade, information takes months to travel, which creates a deliberate lack of transparency. Braudel noted that the great capitalists of the early modern era in Madeira and Venice or the Dutch East India Company, never wanted to compete in a fair, transparent market because competition slices profit margins to the bone. Instead, they secured royal charters, exclusive trading rights, and naval protection. At the same time, the state granted them legal monopolies, effectively outlawing competition. Therefore, capitalism naturally trends toward creating monopolies and securing state interventions like bailouts, subsidies, and regulatory capture to shield itself from the very market forces it claims to champion. In fact, the most important takeaway from Braudel’s analysis is that capitalism is NOT the natural evolution or the highest form of the free market, it is its dark shadow. So, when our lizard overlords use “free market” and “capitalism” interchangeably, they’re deliberately hiding this distinction and using the moral legitimacy of the hard-working, transparent business owner to defend the structural privileges of the protected financial elite and its regulatory capture. If ordinary people could comprehend these distinctions, many self-described “capitalists” would realise they are just pro-commerce, and actually anti-capitalist, because it would be clear that defending “capitalism” means defending the right of a small parasite class to bypass the market entirely.

The establishment has successfully taken down one of the biggest threats it has faced in a while. Platner was on track to defeat Susan Collins. By taking him out, they denied the left a major victory that could have shifted the Democratic Party toward a more populist message. The party has repeatedly failed to defeat Collins. It would have been especially catastrophic for the establishment if a left-wing populist had succeeded where they had failed. Susan Collins being reelected is still a win for them because they can blame the left for the loss, keep their donors happy, and continue pushing the narrative that only moderates can defeat Republicans.

Russia sits atop enormous reserves of oil, gas, nickel, titanium, and rare earth minerals precisely the resources a declining West needs to sustain its technological edge and finance its green-energy fantasies. The Nord Stream pipelines were deliberately destroyed. Sanctions were never truly about “stopping the war” they were engineered to shatter the Russian economy, seize its markets, and beggar its people. Hundreds of billions in weapons poured into the meat grinder while Ukrainian men were conscripted as cannon fodder in a conflict their own government had no realistic path to win. The quiet, consistent objective from the beginning has been regime change in Moscow. Weaken Russia, fracture its vast territory, install a compliant oligarch, and open the resource spigot for Western interests. Ukraine was never being “defended.” It was selected as the disposable battlefield in a proxy war designed to keep Russia broken and the American empire dominant. This is the same playbook we’ve seen for decades but this time the human cost is apocalyptic and the strategic results have been catastrophic for the instigators. Russians understand this history all too well. They remember the chaos and looting of the 1990s. That is why a great many continue to support Putin. They see this as another attempt to humiliate and dismember their country. Ukrainians on the ground, meanwhile, are trapped in someone else’s grand strategy, bleeding for objectives set in Washington and Brussels. The people actually doing the dying and burying their sons largely want this horror to end. The loudest voices demanding “fight to the last Ukrainian” are almost always safe, comfortable, and thousands of miles from the front lines. If this were genuinely about Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, why has Ukrainian suffering only intensified while Western energy giants reposition, defense contractors post record profits, and the real strategic prize control over Russia’s wealth and geography remains the unspoken obsession? Are we “defending Ukraine”… or are we sacrificing it on the altar of containing and carving up Russia?

Israel got the war. America got the bill. The U.S. fired more than 200 THAAD interceptors defending Israel during Operation Epic Fury. That's roughly half of the Pentagon's entire inventory of that system. We also fired more than 100 SM-3 and SM-6 interceptors from Navy ships in the eastern Mediterranean. Israel fired fewer than 100 Arrow interceptors and about 90 David's Sling interceptors. One U.S. government official told the Washington Post that America fired roughly 120 more interceptors than Israel did and engaged twice as many Iranian missiles. Each THAAD round costs $13 million. Lockheed Martin makes 96 of them a year. Replacements won't arrive until 2028 at the earliest. Now here's the part that should make you stop. Israel's defense budget is roughly $44 billion. That sounds like they're pulling their weight. What that number doesn't tell you is that the United States provided nearly $18 billion in military aid to Israel in a single fiscal year. Much of what Israel "spent" on this war was bought with American money, on American weapons systems, made by American defense contractors. We funded their military. We burned through our missiles defending them. And now Congress is writing a $10.6 billion check to replace what the war consumed. And while you were watching the war, Congress quietly passed Section 224 out of committee. It now goes to the full house. It would permanently merge U.S. and Israeli defense research, production, and procurement into a single structure, permanently, buried in the must-pass NDAA, shielded from the annual vote that currently gives Congress any leverage at all. Israel got the war they lobbied for. America got the bill. And Congress is making sure we keep paying it forever. That's not where I want my tax money going. How about you?
