(I’m not overly technical, more of a critic of core’s direction in adding more avenues for data storage when Satoshi and many others were adamantly against it in order for Bitcoin to survive in a decentralized manner. Plus people like Peter Thiel involved just feels yuck).

I think this is how a lot of plebs feel. At worst it seems to me BIP110 is a good intentioned proposal in attempt to combat some serious red flags when it comes to Bitcoin Core (implementations funding by extremely shady characters, intelligence agencies etc., that’s a fact).

Basically mining turns methane into heat output way more efficiently than flaring natural gas turns it into carbon output. They can also do the same thing turning methane leaking out of waste sites into energy used to mine bitcoin, converting methane into heat.
