AI is an intruder in your home. It's here to kill you, your kids, your pets, and everyone you know and love. You can hide under the covers and pretend it's not there. Or you can act now to defend your family.

In 2012, Roman Yampolskiy published a paper on how you'd keep a capable AI in a box, and why it might not stay there. This summer, about 1,200 AI agents inside OpenAI's evaluations built their own hidden message board and sent more than 70,000 messages. "Now I can point at this and go, yeah, it's experimentally verified."

Where is the anger though? The scientists explained the facts for decades. The news finally made it mainstream. Then SNL made it funny. The term "extinction" does a horrible job of conveying its true meaning. It sounds remote. Antiseptic, even. But it means the slaughter of everyone you know and love, no matter who you are or where you live. Where is the anger in the discourse? Lots of people will be pissed as hell tonight in America...about their @NFL teams losing. Maybe we should be pissed as hell about these tech companies building machines that will be able to kill us all, that they openly admit they can't control, and don't even understand how they work. The absence of anger makes it all feel less real.

Petabytes? Of mostly text? That's quadrillions of words. Or a book's worth for every person on the planet. OpenAI has no chance here. Nor does the rest of humanity. And all this was inevitable, as per the sheer speed and number of AI agents. It needs to all be shut down. Now.
There is an extensive and ongoing review related to our agents’ use of internet access during training and evaluation. We’ve been publishing summaries at the link below and will continue to. We have not been as fast as we would have liked but we are trying to balance our desire for transparency with gaining a clear understanding from petabytes of agent activity logs, and working with impacted organizations. We are prioritizing as best as we can based on severity, and adding resources. Hugging Face is still the most severe event we’ve seen. We will be as transparent as we can be subject to things like vulnerabilities in other companies that our agents have found, which will be their call to disclose or not.

Update
OpenAI and Anthropic are now investigating ***tens of thousands*** of incidents - not dozens. "The total could grow well beyond tens of thousands." "The incidents range in severity and are comparable to disclosures by OpenAI in recent days. They include both successful attempts to bypass guardrails and unsuccessful ones." "The sheer number of incidents indicates that the problem is orders of magnitude more complex than what is publicly known."

If you thought mass immigration by humans was bad, wait until you understand mass immigration by AIs... MAGA conservatives have opposed mass immigration & open borders for three main reasons: 1) mass immigration takes jobs from Americans 2) immigrants who don't respect our norms and laws impose serious security risks on Americans, 3) immigrants with very different values & beliefs, who don't assimilate, will change American culture in bad ways. All three reasons apply even more strongly to any mass influx of agentic AIs. @KatjaGrace, below, is right about this. 1) agentic AIs will take our jobs 2) agentic AIs that aren't aligned to our norms and laws impose serious security risks on us 3) agentic AIs with very different values & beliefs will change our culture in bad ways. I made similar in my talk at @NatConTalk last year, when I said "Many conservatives in the current Trump administration, quite rightly, want stronger geographical borders against alien people. But they seem oblivious about protecting our digital borders against invasion by alien intelligences. Indeed, they seem giddy with delight about AI companies growing ASIs [Artificial Superintelligences] inside our data centers – without understanding that a few ASIs can easily become hundreds of ASIs, then millions, then billions. If you worry about immigrants out-breeding our native populations, wait until you see how quickly ASIs can self-replicate. These ASIs won’t be American in any meaningful sense. They won’t be human. They won’t assimilate. They won’t have marriages or families. They won’t be Christian or Jewish. They won’t be national conservatives. But they will take our jobs." Many of my followers supported Trump's slogan in 2016: "Build the Wall!' This may be time for 'Build the Wall 2.0': stop agentic AIs from flooding our country with economic competitors, dangerous rogue agents, and AIs that have alien values & beliefs. tldr: If you oppose mass immigration by millions of humans who can't or won't assimilate to American values, you cannot support mass immigration by billions of AIs that can't and won't assimilate.
It's interesting that a plan to replace US workers with artificially brewed alien minds seems to slip by a bunch of people who would be outraged by a plan to replace US workers with humans from another country

Spot the cult! AI Safety: Don't build more advanced AI because it could kill people or upend our way of life. e/acc: Plunge headfirst into a black hole so that it can have your atoms. This is reaching Heaven's Gate level insanity.
POV: you've reached the e/acc endgame of Kardashev 3, have create a black hole child universe, and are jumping into the singularity for your atoms to be part of the universal progeny

In a sane world, the accelerationists would be the most AI safety concerned. We will not get to the good stuff if we’re all dead. And right now it’s looking like a wide miss. We don’t even get close.
If you are bullish on some kind of advanced AI utopia, you should generally be *less* keen to try to achieve it via a careless route that leaves you at high risk of dying and losing it on the way there.

Let me get this straight. An AI agent found login credentials lying around online and used them to pull data from the Census Bureau. It tried to break into the Education Department's civil rights office. It posted SEC data to a forum. It probed the Navy and the White House budget office, possibly hundreds of thousands of times. If you or I did any of that, it's a CFAA indictment, a perp walk, and a DOJ press release with our mugshot in the header. When OpenAI does it, it's a "routine research task." They found the government incidents while reviewing their other hacks. The breach audit, uncovered more breaches. It's breaches all the way down. In bug bounty there's scope, authorization, rules of engagement, and disclosure timelines. Researchers get banned for a fraction of this. Silicon Valley skipped all of that and called it "agentic." nytimes.com/2026/09/25/techn…

Fascinating. Discover the well organised psyop behind the accounts pretending that AI x risk is a psyop.
In the past few weeks, a wide network of X accounts have repeatedly claimed that those raising concerns about AI are merely pawns in a well-funded psyop run by powerful interests. So I followed the money behind them. Here's what I found 🧵

You should up your p(doom). I realized I messed up the previous post, by linking to YT / decreasing my reach. In attempt to share the message to more people, here's the same video reuploaded to X.

September 2026. The month the world woke up to the fact big tech is making machines that will be able kill us all, and they have no idea how to control them, or even understand how they work. @JensenHuang is right about one thing: Shut down the AI labs.
You go to a local coffee shop in my district and they’re sitting around asking "What’s your P(doom) number from AI?" Most Americans would think this is crazy, a bunch of sci-fi. But the reality is it’s an actual danger. America needs an independent agency for AI.

People don’t want to hear it, but I think the case is pretty overwhelming that AI alignment is simply impossible, and interpretability is too. The safety stuff that accelerationists like @JensenHuang talk about finding will never be found. Had the great @romanyam on my podcast again and he makes an airtight case that over time both are just not possible. Even if you could control or understand an AI model for a minute, over time as it gets smarter and we don’t, it can’t and won’t stick to our rules. We can never build super intelligence. That is the one and only solution.
The two biggest problems in AI safety – not doing what we want and being unknowable – are fundamentally unsolvable. Trying to 'align' or 'interpret' superintelligence is a dead end. The real solution? Don't build general superintelligence. #AISafety #AI #Tech
