One of the serious collateral repercussions of our type of politics is that the average person loses the ability to tell WHAT GOVERNMENT IS SUPPOSED TO BE DOING. You know - the purpose of government. Here is a question I got recently from a voter after they learnt that am a candidate for Governor. "Am a Kiambu voter. My question to you is, what are your ongoing ground personal projects"? I said: Am sorry, what do you mean? Response: "Are you waiting to be voted to start delivering or you have started delivery before being voted in"? The person asking this question means well. They are wondering if the candidate understands HOW to win votes. At least the way it has been done before. But that question also tells you what is rotten with our politics. A candidate is a walking ATM. They are expected to use their personal funds to fix what our corrupt politicians have neglected. To fix years of theft and corruption. If that is the standard, and if this is how we will continue to conduct ourselves around politics - we are doomed. Let's not kid ourselves. We are done. I tell people when I meet them - I am not here to bribe anyone into a vote. If you want change, please be that change. Start by saying: I am not going to ask a candidate for office to do what the thieves we have elected have failed to do, DESPITE YEARS OF OPPORTUNITY, AND TRILLIONS OF SHILLINGS.

I have just landed in Kisumu ahead of the memorial of my dear brother and friend, the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga. It is hard to believe that it has already been a year, but today we gather to remember a life that touched so many and a legacy that remains deeply woven into our nation's history.

A Chief teaching serious Maths. In the 90s, to qualify to be a chief, one just needed to be able to read & write. Sasa utaona a parliamentarian who can't read or write at a baraza with a chief who can do permutations & combinations. Upside down society & serious underemployment!

My plans for Kiambu County are big and radical. As Governor, I will slash fees for licenses for any small business with gross turnover of less than KSH 500,000 a month. Small businesses will pay KSH 0 for licenses. Because we should want small businesses to thrive. Why do we need to ask mama mboga to pay KSH 12,000 in license fees to facilitate county largesse and wastage? Before someone says: how can this work? Let me put some numbers on the table. Kiambu raises about KSH 900 million in fees from permits. This includes big and small businesses. Much of this is from barbershops, small shops, and the like. The sad thing is, what happens when that money gets in the hands of the government. The data is unmistakable: much of this is wasted. In three years, @Wamatangi_ has spent KSH 55 billion. Supposed to serve 2.5 million people. But he spent KSH 23.5 billion- 43% on average, on salaries for 0.7% of the county population. When the limit is 35%. That way - he has stolen KSH 4.3 billion in just three years from citizens. In illegal diversion through salaries. The county wasted KSH 1.26 billion on wasteful travel. This amount benefited no one - other than those in government. KSH 7.6 billion in expenses have ZERO receipts. In three years. KSH 403 million in wasteful court fees due to incompetence. KSH 361 million in ‘fuel expenses’ without one receipt. Do you see the problem? The problem is the lack of discipline. It’s incompetence. It’s greed. We charge mama mbogas KSH 10,000 or KSH 12,000, so that we can waste KSH 1.2 billion travelling to nowhere. So that we can steal from citizens. I will end this madness. I will bring discipline to government. I will bring common sense and business sense to government. Prudence. Purpose. Progress.
