Putting morality aside (for the moment), this is the other reason I oppose MAiD.
As is the case with all activist initiatives, the initial request is simply a means of getting a foot in the door. The goal is continued expansion until everything is covered.
While this is happening, bean counters in the government will eventually reach the conclusion that euthanasia is significantly less expensive than long term care for the sick and elderly.
I'm fine with MAID, really. But in practice, the people who would benefit most from it are often unable to make serious medicolegal decisions and it falls to their family or other third parties.
Tricky thing to implement and regulate...

Immorality in the guise of compassion.
I've become a big fan of Canada in seeing how (relatively) little controversy euthanasia seems to arouse in that country despite the entire right-wing Anglosphere losing its mind over it.
Canadians have the most up close experience with MAID. They know that it is a humane, rational policy that provides people in difficult situations a humane way to die with dignity.
Rightists sitting in America and the UK getting their information about MAID from the Daily Mail and the New York Post are convinced that Canada is eliminating every twenty year old who comes in with a cough.
But Canada knows what it is doing is right. All the data and facts are on their side. The other side has sensationalist anecdotes that fall apart under scrutiny, and paranoid conspiracy theories about Canada being the Fourth Reich and eliminating the weak and vulnerable for pleasure and profit.
On that basis, they want government to force people to be indefinitely tortured. It's hard to think of many positions more disgusting than that.

In the interest of compromise, I propose that we let MAiD remain in place provided it's extended to criminals, drug addicts, and the homeless.

In order to get you to support MAiD they purposely avoid direct language.
"We're going to suffocate your 83 year old granny" doesn't exactly ooze dignity and compassion, does it?

I don’t believe in the death penalty. I do think we should send the worst criminals to purgatory earlier than nature would, so they can get a head start on working off their sins.

It’s called getting your foot in the door.
Ask for something that the majority would find reasonable and then keep demanding more.
Several states already offer assisted death. But, far stricter conditions. You must ne terminally ill and have less than 6 months to live.

I’d be more sympathetic to the “tax the rich” people if I didn’t know what would happen to the money.
NDP supports believe it would go to paying down the debt but it wouldn’t. It would be used to bribe voters with more “free” services.
Then the NDP would be back demanding some new tax.
The ultimate end is communism as the government would have all the money.
By taxing the richest 0.3% of Canadians, just some 133,000 people, Canada could raise over $1 billion per year, the Parliamentary Budget Officer confirmed today.
Those revenues could go a long way towards fixing our broken healthcare system, building affordable housing, or creating a national public grocery network that would drive down the cost of groceries.
No selling of our airports required. Just the ultra rich paying their fair share.

Also, as of 2019, almost 1/3rd of ALL government spending (federal + provincial + municipal combined) was on healthcare.
Healthcare spending has increased substantially since then. The system is still in tatters and held together by duct tape.
How much more money do they need?
