Gothamist, did you read the rest of the report? You reported that FDNY had 360 ambulances available against a daily target of 488. You left out what happened next: in spring 2026, under Mayor Mamdani, the target was cut to 332—a 32% reduction. Page 21 says: “The reason for the decrease is unclear.” You also emphasized rising life-threatening calls since 2015 without telling readers that those incidents FELL 3.7% from FY2024 to FY2026 while response times INCREASED 21%, from 10:52 to 13:09. The decade-long comparison is in the report. So are the falling incident totals and the unexplained target cut under Mamdani. Why didn’t those facts make your story? Did you ask his administration who approved the cut and why? Reporting an ambulance shortage while leaving out that the city lowered the benchmark isn’t giving readers the whole story.
NYC ambulance response times have grown 41% as life-threatening calls rise gothamist.com/news/nyc-ambul…

Why does James have a lead at all? The only people with reasons to vote for her are her, her cousin, Kathy Hochul, and Kathy's husband.
New poll out and James is only up 6: 🔵 Letitia James 51% 🔴 Saritha Komatireddy 45% That’s basically half the lead she had last month. People who actually watched the debate went hard for Saritha. Independents are moving her way too. James has used the AG’s office for politics while crime and fraud keep hitting regular people. Saritha’s a former federal prosecutor who’ll actually do the job. @sarithaforny has my support. Vote November 3. 🇺🇸

And this is just the obvious kind of fraud. Not the "no one knows who really signed the mail-in ballots" kind.

Today in France, you can protect your business if you wear a hijab. No pressure 😉
“Don’t smash it up, she’s a sister!” This shop manager protecting her business is spared by the thugs out of Muslim solidarity. Still absolutely no connection to immigration.

From the high schools of France to the streets of Madrid to the universities of Tirana, young people are telling their governments the same thing: in an age of massive wealth inequality, they want a future they can believe in. In France, students and teachers are asking for safe schools, enough teachers and smaller classes. In Spain, for affordable rent and housing. In Albania, for good jobs and an end to corruption. @JDVance says this is what happens when a nation lets in too many immigrants from the global south. He is not just morally wrong, but misreading the moment. The is what happens when nations let wealth and power accumulate in the hands of a few. This is what happens when young people lose hope in their future. In America, let us listen to our young. We need an economic and political transformation. America's Next New Deal.

Tonight, France burned. America, you should be watching very carefully. Today, October 17, 2026, more than half a million people marched across France against the cost of living. By 8pm, around 400 had been arrested. In Paris, police turned water cannons on the crowds at Place de la République, and one march was stopped 150 meters from the Élysée Palace. Of the 195 people arrested in the capital by the afternoon, only one actually lived in Paris. Mobs forced their way into the city halls of Marseille and Lille. In Lyon, a tourism office was set on fire. In Rennes, barricades burned. Near Limoges, a highway was blocked and police cars were torched. And then came Limoges. A crowd of very young people stormed the city hall, a protected historic monument built in the 1880s. They flipped police cars in front of it and set them ablaze, then set the building itself on fire. The flames took the roof, the wedding hall, and the civil registry, the office that records every birth, every marriage, every death in the city. Tonight, the bell tower that has crowned Limoges for nearly 150 years collapsed. The mayor's response: "It's a monument that is burning, not the Republic." That is the problem in one sentence. Our leaders still think words can put out fires. None of this came out of nowhere. For twenty years, the French political class has excused everything. Every riot was "anger." Every burned car was a "social symptom." Every attack on police was "a reaction to provocation." And the hard left, La France Insoumise, which officially backed today's mobilization, built its electoral machine on an alliance with political Islamism: refusing to condemn, refusing to name, trading secularism and public order for votes. In France we have a word for it. Islamo-gauchisme. Islamo-leftism. Tonight you saw where that culture of excuse ends. A country where a mob can burn down a town hall, and the state arrives after the roof has already fallen in. My dear American friends, I say this with love, as someone who has lived among you and owes you a great deal: your midterms are on November 3rd. And the same alliance is growing inside your Democratic Party. The same far-left wing that treats disorder as protest and police as the enemy. The same activists who refuse to draw a line between legitimate dissent and those who openly despise the West. The same politicians who think tolerance means tolerating everything, including the people who want to burn it down. It always starts with excuses. Then comes impunity. Then come the flames. Same causes, same effects. If you create the conditions we created, you will get exactly what we got tonight. France was the country of the Enlightenment, of cathedrals and town halls that stood for centuries. Tonight, one of them collapsed live on social media while the government called for calm. My dear American friends, the only advantage you have over us is that you've been warned. Vote like your city hall depends on it. Because one day, it will. x.com/MisterKraKra/status/21…

This is so screwed up.
The Eleventh Circuit just let Florida’s social media ID law stand. Under-14s are banned outright, and 14 and 15-year-olds need a parent’s permission. To enforce that, platforms have to check the age of everyone, adults included. The court says a minor can still use these platforms through a parent’s account, or without an account at all. So the law doesn’t keep kids out. It only stops the honest ones, and it makes every adult hand over ID to read and post lawful speech. Judge Rosenbaum warned last year that this ties real identities to accounts and ends anonymous posting. reclaimthenet.org/florida-so…

Time is up for California We gave California 48 hours to review and flag more than 20,000 noncitizen voters recently mailed live ballots. California refused. This morning we filed a federal court action seeking an emergency order requiring California to sequester ballots returned by suspected noncitizens. This is not political or controversial. 18 U.S.C. § 611 makes it a federal offense for noncitizens to vote in a federal election. We will not allow California to dilute the votes of American citizens.

REVEALED: Preschool teachers were offered training on preparing children for “a lifetime of justice work.” The workshop was literally called: “Nurturing Future Activists.” Advertised at an April 2026 Pennsylvania summit for educators teaching PRESCHOOL through second grade, it promised classroom ideas teachers could implement immediately. The same summit promoted “Radical Morning Meeting” training from Philly Children’s Movement. Here’s how that organization describes its mission: “in order to create systemic change, we must change the way that people raise children.” Its framework has already been piloted in FOUR Philadelphia public elementary schools: Adaire, Vare-Washington, Kearny and Spring Garden. The group traces its origins to a children’s march supporting Black Lives Matter. Its event history includes protests against Moms for Liberty. Then there’s Rutgers. A university-produced curriculum names the group as a partner and includes a third-grade unit called: “Becoming an Activist for Racial Justice.” Activities include creating chants, songs and protest signs. The curriculum asks teachers: “Am I engaging students in activism and taking action in their schools and communities?”

So the investigation may be about this...
UPDATE: Ilhan Omar’s sister signed a 340B deal for her clinic with a pharmacy that lost its license in 2017 but remains active, as Omar steered public money to her clinic while claiming no family interest. Omar’s family members have received grand jury subpoenas, per the NYT.

FYI
Meta's Muse AI agent harvests personal, financial, and professional data from people who have never installed or given their consent. Avoiding Muse doesn't stop Meta from collecting your data. When a contact grants Muse system-level access to their email accounts, contact lists, calendars, and private messaging history, the agent processes and indexes every interaction involving you. Meta receives, analyses, and stores your private communications without your knowledge, consent, or notification. This secondary data harvesting places non-consenting individuals inside Meta's commercial profiling system. Because Meta stores this indexed information on central servers, your private communications and personal network details become accessible through government disclosure orders and law enforcement requests. A single contact surrendering their account permissions compromises the privacy and digital security of their entire personal and professional network. My initial technical breakdown below examined Muse's permission structure and core capabilities. The upcoming investigation details the specific data categories Muse accesses and the mechanisms it uses to index unlinked third-party records. Muse is probably one of the most toxic products to come out of the tech industry in 30 years.

Another brutal subway stabbing. A man was stabbed multiple times on a 6 train in Manhattan, and his attacker is still on the loose. We have been sounding the alarm about subway violence for months. New Yorkers are sick and tired of dealing with disorder and violence in the subways. AG Letitia James caused this chaos. In 2020, she launched an investigation into the cops for policing the subways. For years, she has defended a broken criminal justice system that puts criminals ahead of public safety. And as recently as last week, at our debate, she suggested that having severely mentally ill people remain in the subways represents “progress.” I have announced that I would launch a Transit Crimes Strike Force to crack down on subway crime, remove repeat and violent offenders from the transit systems, and bring real accountability to our rails. New Yorkers deserve to ride the subway without fearing for their lives. youtu.be/B8MCmzHx8to?is=CG0_…

Defeating Hochul would be a true upset and a shining moment of hope for the whole nation. I hope all my New York friends turn out in force to accomplish it. Bring friends. Don't miss the chance!
BREAKING NEWS: Bruce Blakeman has closed the gap in the gubernatorial race with Kathy Hochul to just 3 points according to the latest polling. It's a good time to remember that under Kathy Hochul's leadership, the great State of New York leads the nation in several categories: *Population loss *Income loss *Migrant spending *Healthcare spending per capita *Public welfare per capita *National guard members in public transit per capita *National guard members in state prisons per capita *Medicaid spending per capita *Education spending per capita *State-Local Tax Burden per Capita *Taxes Paid to Own State per Capita *Debt per Capita *Public transit fare evasion per capita *Congestion taxes and subsequent increases in cost of living per capita *Politicians who march in the streets to demand the release of convicted illegal alien criminals

We need to face the fact that there’s already a huge number of people, especially younger people, who talk to AI like it’s their friend and carry on near constant conversations with it. What happens when a critical mass of people spend most of their day bonding and communicating with an inhuman algorithm controlled by a trillion dollar tech company? Nobody knows. Most of the dystopian sci fi writers never even envisioned a scenario this bleak. And our leaders have apparently no interest in trying to prevent any of this from happening. Really grim stuff.

I counted every word from last night's governor's debate. "Trump" - 41 times "Budget" - 3 times "Affordability" - 2 times @KathyHochul kept bringing up Trump because she can't defend her own record. @NassauExec Bruce Blakeman pointed out what she won't talk about: - Utility rates raised 48 times on her watch - The highest taxes in America - Billions spent on migrants while New Yorkers struggle - Cashless bail that has shampoo locked behind glass - Nurses, railroad workers and corrections officers pushed to strike - Medicaid alone has grown by roughly $21 billion across her five budgets. New York can't afford four more years.
