Updating my CV unearthed ~180 pieces of unpaid medical writing, research and teaching from one decade.
Almost none of it helped me climb the training ladder.
I listed all of it anyway.

#SYSK no 2. How redesigning a figure (and some complicated maths) changed how we decide when to do an RCT.

Studies You Should Know #SYSK
A new series from #MediCurious
The aim is to produce a syllabus, a cannon, a list of important studies and papers that changed medicine.
I want this list to help teach students and clinicians about #EBM and history

Surely no one has read all of these? Becoming an "expert" in only a single drug is challenging.
I still find it interesting that there is quite a large reduction in CVD deaths but a much smaller reduction in overall deaths.
But I admit that I am more convinced of a mortality benefit now.
It claims it improved over all mortality by 46% in 2 years but only reports relative rates in the text.
Using this figure it looks like absolute rate goes from 1/100 life years to 0.5/100.
I may have misunderstood but unlikely to improve mortality that much in 2 years?
This WhatsApp Group was started about 2 months ago.
It's been shared via "word of mouth" and its already expanded to 181 primary care clinicians across the Midlands and beyond.
Really proud of this one. It can be really satisfying to see an idea take hold #TeamGP

So, Googling these questions has not produced any graphs (so far) but @ResearchGate has a great analytics tool. I have no idea how we judge if this is accurate though?
10/ and final, the number of publications by speciality. Interesting family medicine is 1.6!
I suspect this may be different in the UK.
What do you think?

@AdmiralUK I have just been on hold to your call centre for over an hour ... and then they cut me off.
My car has been sat on my drive for over a month and not collected. And now I can't even ask you to collect it.
I'd really appreciate some help please?
I've just learned a new phrase "a zebra hunter" = a clinician investigating a rare diagnosis.

Great day with the #AMS at the UK Midlands Athletics Championship today. Bit rusty after 2 years of COVID shutting down the events but good to be back. #throwing#Field
I bought these in 2014 for elective when I still wanted to be a surgeon. They've sat on the shelf gathering dust ever since. Monday morning they will be revised for the 1st proper shift as #GPST O&G SHO. Will they be pink in 4 months?

If I take away the #collaborative papers that I didn't write then total citations is 295 .... and the #kardashianindex is still too low!
Clearly my Twitter chat is terrible
You have to love NHS mandatory training. This is a Medicines Management test ... all about being careful with drug prescribing ... can anyone spot the error?

The BMI data is referenced as the latest for this quarter and the exchange rate.
The salaries was tricky but I took them from a range of websites for each country.
Only meant to be a bit of fun rather. Full table below.
Typical NHS ... a draw with holes on to hold blood bottles ... that fit through the holes and stop the draw opening and closing!

One of the best Afghan War biographies I've read and one of the best memoirs with deep insight into combat stress and soldiers mental health. I'd highly recommend any #Military#doctor to #read#readinglist#RMAS
#dyslexia kicking in ... Read this thread as "Doctors & MAD scientists" and I thought ... thats a thread I really want to follow!
Mad scientists on the front line of the pandemic, couldn't do it without them!
ED shift today. The hospital is full with a pretty long wait to see the medics but the ED feels calm.
Best shift I've had in a while. Feels like the good old days of 2016.
