You send $8 through X Money. Put your ETH address in the memo. Done. Your transaction ID becomes the seed — the image generates itself from the payment.

Three years ago, Jack Butcher charged $8 to make fun of Twitter's blue checkmark. That project — Checks — ended up doing over $250M in secondary volume.
Sixteen thousand people paid eight bucks for a grid of colored checks. The joke outlived the platform feature it was mocking.
September 2026. Same guy. Same price point. Completely different rails.
Back then you needed MetaMask, ETH for gas, maybe an allowlist. The whole wallet ritual.
This time you open X, you pay, you're done. X Money handles fiat. Ethereum handles ownership. The payment itself draws the picture.

That last bit is what keeps pulling me back.
Your eight dollars doesn't buy a pre-made image. The transaction generates one. The receipt is the artwork.
And the name — Credits. From Latin credere. To believe. He's not being subtle.

Then there's the layer underneath.
80 Credits burn down into a single Statement. Think of it like CMYK printing — plates stacking, collapsing into something denser. Supply doesn't just sit there.
It contracts when holders choose to combine. Scarcity isn't declared upfront. It grows out of what people do after minting.
Numbers floating around the timeline: 122,154 Credits total, roughly 25,000 unique wallets, close to a million dollars in about a day. Haven't verified every digit myself — but 25k wallets each sending $8 is hard to fake.

The part that actually sticks with me is the architecture.
Discovery on X. Payment on X. Art generated from the transaction. Ownership on Ethereum.
The entire loop closes without ever leaving the app — except for the one piece that actually needs to be permanent, which lives on-chain.
X is the gallery, the storefront, the canvas. The chain is the vault. Neither one tries to do the other's job.

This isn't another NFT drop dressed up as culture. It's probably closer to what internet-native art should have looked like from the start — built on the platform people are already scrolling, paid with the tools they already have, owned on the infrastructure that can't be edited.
Three years between Checks and Credits. Same $8. Same artist. The first one mocked a platform fee.
The second one turned the platform into the medium.

THE BLOCK: The Winklevoss twins have filed an S-1 registration statement with the SEC, proposing a spot Zcash exchange-traded product that would list on Nasdaq under the ticker WINK.
