UPDATE: Brooke Hanlon Murder Investigation
It’s been nearly five months since Brooke Hanlon (35) was found stabbed to death inside her Chester Township, New Jersey, home on June 6, 2026.
Her husband, James “Conor” Hanlon, says he discovered her body in an upstairs bedroom and called 911. Their young daughter was inside the home.
Brooke’s recently released, heavily redacted autopsy report documents multiple sharp-force injuries, including injuries to her extremities. Whether those were defensive wounds remains unclear.
No arrests have been announced, and investigators have not publicly identified a suspect.
But there’s something else about this investigation that I find interesting.
I’ve followed homicide investigations for years, and I’ve learned to pay just as much attention to what police aren’t saying as what they are.
In July, investigators requested information about suspicious activity near Brooke’s home and offered a $1,000 reward.
Since then? Very little publicly.
No publicly released suspect description. No announced manhunt. No repeated public appeals for help identifying a killer.
And nearly five months later, we still know very little about the circumstances surrounding her death.
What happened before her husband discovered her? When was Brooke last known to be alive? Has that timeline been independently established?
Police silence doesn’t prove anything. But it certainly leaves questions.
Are investigators still trying to identify Brooke’s killer, or are they building a case against someone they have already identified?
