When an IIT Bombay professor upholding exam integrity catches a student using ChatGPT or cheating 𝗛𝗘 should not be targeted with an FIR and a criminal probe!
Every student's life is deeply precious & one feels so bad the young student committed suicide & lost his life. IIT BOMBAY must ensure counseling. Our education system & institutions must prioritize mental & emotional health support for all children.
Prior to this case very unfortunate suicide, two other students at IIT BOMBAY also committed suicide & hence IIT BOMBAY needs to introspect within & urgently reform.
However framing honest teachers for enforcing rules sets a dangerous precedent as it kills meritocracy and fuels brain drain.
#𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗕𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁 stands 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗠𝗟𝗬 with 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮 and the IIT Bombay Faculty Forum.
No threats or false cases will stop us from standing up for truth and academic integrity!

I strongly oppose the charges against Prof. Suryanarayana Doolla of IIT Bombay under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
My background: I belong to the Devendra Kula Vellalar (DKV) community, classified as SC. I grew up in deep rural poverty and witnessed the suffering of my people first-hand. I was educated thanks to broad-minded people from many communities.
I studied Electronics at NIT Tiruchirappalli, worked at C-DOT Bengaluru, and then at Intel in India and the US, where I rose to Engineering Director and Senior Silicon Architect, responsible for high-speed interconnects vital to modern CPUs and GPUs. I hold multiple patents in this field.
I share this to make clear that I know what it means to come from an SC community and rise through hard work and commitment.
Our DKV community has taken a principled, voluntary stand not to file SC/ST cases against anyone. We have seen how cases under this Act are weaponised, and how that deepens enmity on the ground.
On that basis, I oppose the misuse of this Act in this case. The case against Prof. Doolla must be withdrawn. This matters for the future of SC/ST students and for our nation.

विशेषाधिकार मुझे मिलना चाहिए, ऐसे बच्चों को नहीं।
केस उनके माता-पिता पर होना चाहिए। केस उस सिस्टम पर होना चाहिए जिसने एक कमजोर और अनपढ़ बच्चे को इतने बड़े संस्थान में भेज दिया, जहाँ दिमाग, IQ और दबाव झेलने की हिम्मत चाहिए।
अगर दबाव नहीं झेल सकते तो घर बैठो। सीट बर्बाद मत करो। सूर्यनारायण सर का इस्तीफा इस देश के हर ईमानदार शिक्षक का अंत है, और अब नकल शर्मनाक काम भी नहीं रहेगी।”

Dr Doolla is an acclaimed professor of Energy Sciences at IIT Bombay. An MTech and a PhD from IIT, he has received excellence in teaching award twice. He recently caught a student cheating. The student committed suicide.
Dr Doolla has now been charged under the SC/ST Act.

Why does @IndiGo6E insist on checking your handbag again before boarding when passengers have already passed airport security? After CISF screening, baggage scanning and multiple security clearances, being stopped at the gate and asked questions such as, “Do you have a lighter?” can seem excessive. Does IndiGo not trust the airport security system? Aviation security does involve multiple layers, and airlines have their own responsibility to ensure restricted items do not enter aircraft cabins. But repetitive checks can also become security theatre if they add little value. Passengers deserve clarity: if security has already cleared us, what exactly is the additional gate check meant to achieve?

He was assaulted for asking madarsa students to sing #NationalAnthem. A fatwa was reportedly issued against him. Now, he received the #PadmaShri for educational and social reforms for muslims.
Meet Kazi Masum Akhtar—a madrasa teacher, educationist and social reformer from West Bengal.
While serving as a madrasa headmaster, Akhtar encouraged students to sing the National Anthem and promoted education, women's empowerment and social reform.
His progressive views were against the conservative views of Islamic clerics. In 2015, he was assaulted and seriously injured. And fatwa was issued against him.
Though, his community didn’t recognise his work but govt recognised it and he was awarded Padma Shri.
