Each week, we share the stories of people from across our district who inspire us through their selfless service and acts of compassion. This week, we honor not one, but two outstanding individuals from Bristol Borough. Meet this week’s Hometown Heroes: Rev. Hiram Garcia, Sr. and Sgt. Carlos Rivera. The story of a community is written by the people who choose to invest their lives in it. And if you call Bristol Borough home, chances are you know these two men—or know someone whose life is better because of them. For decades, Rev. Garcia and Sgt. Rivera have been familiar faces, trusted neighbors, and steady hands in this community, always finding ways to serve, to lift others up, and to leave Bristol a little stronger than they found it. When Rev. Garcia arrived in Bristol in the early 1970s, he saw neighbors who needed an advocate and young people who needed opportunity—and he went to work. As the Borough’s first Puerto Rican pastor of the Assembly of God, he became a mentor, teacher, and trusted source of support for families. He supported children learning English, guided young people pursuing their education, and founded the Puerto Rican Civic Association to connect residents with legal, medical, financial, and educational resources while bringing neighbors together in celebration and unity. Years later, a young Bristol native named Carlos Rivera would make history of his own. Carlos grew up dreaming of becoming a police officer, and in 1997 that dream became something larger: he became Bristol Borough’s first Hispanic Puerto Rican police officer. For nearly three decades, he protected the same streets that raised him, while also serving our nation for 28 years in the U.S. Army, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. And through 14 years as a DARE officer, his service reached far beyond the badge—into classrooms and the lives of a generation of Bristol children. They did more than serve Bristol—they helped shape the very fabric of it and make it the special community it is today. Last week, it was a profound honor to help celebrate both Rev. Garcia and Sgt. Rivera at Pioneers of Service: Honoring Bristol’s Puerto Rican Legacy with our friends at the Grundy Foundation. I can think of no more fitting designation than pioneers. Through lives defined by service, they broke barriers, opened doors, lifted up their neighbors, and helped make the path wider for those who followed. Please join me once more in applauding and thanking these two outstanding leaders for their service to our community—Hometown Heroes in every sense of the word.

This afternoon, we celebrated a very special member of our community—the incredible Lisa Syms-Cartledge, who is retiring after 25 years of service at Acts Southampton Estates. As a licensed nurse and longtime Life Engagement Coordinator, she has been a source of care, friendship, and joy—bringing residents together, keeping them active and engaged, and opening the door to countless new experiences and adventures. Lisa, 25 years of service is an extraordinary legacy. Thank you for the lives you’ve touched, memories you’ve help make, and all you’ve given to our community! Please join me in congratulating Lisa, and wishing her the best in this next well deserved chapter!

With our Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act signed into law, I am profoundly humbled to have been presented with Ukraine’s Order of Merit, First Class, by President Zelenskyy. The Ukrainian people have borne this fight with extraordinary courage. But they do not bear it alone. What is being defended in Ukraine belongs to all free people: sovereignty, self-determination, and freedom itself. My sincere thanks to @ZelenskyyUa and the people of Ukraine for this remarkable honor—and for the strength and determination you continue to show the world. The rules governing advanced AI are being written now. America should shape them before our adversaries do—and ensure they protect our security, strength, and technological leadership. What a celebration today at Oxford Enhanced Living in Langhorne Borough, where we honored eight of our extraordinary Bucks County neighbors who have reached—or are about to reach—the remarkable milestone of 100 years: Paula Spigler and Agnes “Hazel” Worsman, both 102; Laura De Chico, 101; Vito Amoroso, Alberta Hess, and Donald Frey, all 100; along with Betty Miller, who turns 100 next month, and Catherine Curran, who joins the century club on New Year’s Eve! Together, they represent more than eight centuries of life, family, friendship, memories, and history right here in our community. What a joy to spend time with them, share some laughs, and hear the stories and memories collected over a century of life—a reminder that 100 years is measured in so much more than time. Please join me in celebrating these eight truly special members of our Bucks County family and wishing each of them continued blessings and happiness!

A wonderful morning at the Bristol Township Senior Center’s Fall Wellness Expo with Bonnie Worth, the BTSC team, and so many of our longtime local partners! For years, we’ve worked together to make sure our seniors—the heart of our community—have the support and resources they deserve. It was especially meaningful to continue that work today in the incredible new center we helped bring to life with $4 million in federal funding I fought to secure, while catching up with so many old friends and new. My sincere thanks to Bonnie, the entire BTSC team, and all of our community partners who joined us today and continue to stand with our seniors every day.

Wonderful afternoon with my friends at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Senior Club in Hilltown! Over the years, our conversations have directly shaped legislation and continue to inform my work in Washington. Today, we focused on the cost of living, my Let America Vote Act, and my efforts to put our community first when it comes to data center development—including my Ratepayer Protection Act, which passed the House last week to ensure our families are never forced to shoulder the cost of Big Tech’s massive energy demands. I’m grateful for their time, friendship, and continued partnership—and look forward to being back again soon!

Since 2005, Ganesh Fest at Bharatiya Temple in Montgomeryville has brought together thousands of neighbors from across our community and region for faith, fellowship, and celebration. This year was among the best in recent memory, with old friends and new joining us for this special tradition. What makes Ganesh Fest remarkable is not simply its scale, but its spirit. At its heart is community—service to others, fellowship across generations, and neighbors standing alongside neighbors. My sincere thanks to the entire Bharatiya Temple community for creating and sustaining this extraordinary tradition year after year!

Today, we celebrated a remarkable chapter of faith, service, and leadership as Reverend Lugenure M. Davis-Jones retires as Pastor of historic Bensalem AME Church. A fourth-generation member of the AME Church, Reverend Jones answered the call to ministry more than three decades ago and, in 2007, became the 100th pastor of Bensalem AME. Throughout her tenure, she has led with a servant’s heart—strengthening families, caring for neighbors, building lasting community partnerships, and helping preserve the extraordinary history of a church that has stood in Bensalem for more than two centuries. Reverend Jones, thank you for your friendship, your faithful service, and the lasting difference you have made across our community. And to the entire Bensalem AME Church family, thank you for the service you share with our community every day!

Seventy-three years ago, the United States and the Republic of Korea made a commitment to stand together in defense of freedom. Through war and peace, challenge and change, that bond has endured—and our nations are stronger and safer because of it. Today, in Montgomeryville, we celebrated that enduring alliance with our so many friends, neighbors, and veterans from our incredible PA-1 Korean American community. My sincere thanks to Master Yang and all who made this special tribute possible, as well all our Korean American neighbors, whose friendship, service, and leadership continue to strengthen our community and the ties between our nations.

Along the banks of our beautiful Delaware River in historic Edgely, the Bristol Yacht Club has been bringing neighbors together since 1948. A perfect evening for Music on the River last night—great music, beautiful views, and, best of all, time spent catching up with so many friends and neighbors. My thanks to all the BYC members for all you do to celebrate and preserve the river life that makes this corner of our community so special, and to Finster for putting on such a great show!

Always a great day with my friends and the incredible patriots of American Legion Riders Chapter 960 at their annual Pig Roast in Levittown! This is a special crew—a family forged through service, strengthened by camaraderie, and bound by a commitment to always show up for our veterans, our neighbors, and one another. Grateful for their friendship, our partnership in serving our PA-1 veteran community, and for the countless ways they continue to answer the call to serve. Our community is stronger because of them.

Our communities and our residents must always come first — Period. Innovation will reshape our economy and our national security. The question is whether we shape that future—or allow it to shape us. This week, we made major bipartisan progress. The House passed my Ratepayer Protection Act 417–3, advancing a principle I’ve been fighting for from the start: innovation must strengthen our communities, not come at their expense. Families and small businesses must never be forced to subsidize the massive infrastructure demands of the world’s largest technology companies. Today, I joined Jon Scott on Fox News to discuss that progress and where we go from here. We will keep pushing—putting our community first, protecting our national security, and building responsible rules of the road that allow America to lead innovation while providing 100% protection to our residents and our communities. Because protecting our residents is a non-negotiable requirement.

What a great afternoon in Montgomery County celebrating Community Day with my friends at the North Penn Mosque! This tradition is all about community: opening doors, welcoming neighbors, and strengthening the friendships and partnerships that bring us closer together. My sincere thanks to Shams and the entire NPM community for the warm welcome, for bringing so many friends and neighbors together, and for all you do throughout the year in service to our community. Always grateful for your friendship and partnership.

Join me in congratulating Michael Stianchi of Troop 24, from Jamison, on earning the rank of Eagle Scout—reaching this remarkable milestone at just 13 years old! For his project, Michael transformed planter boxes at Warwick Elementary School into a vibrant Sensory Garden, creating four distinct spaces centered on smell, hearing, touch, and sight. Using native Pennsylvania plants, natural textures, and even a QR-code information system, he created a space where students can step outside the classroom and experience science and nature in a fun, new way. After every Scout ceremony, I walk away impressed with our young leaders, and grateful for the chance to hear from them, learn from them, and spend time with their families. Congratulations, Michael—and thank you to the entire PA-1 Scouting community for continuing to lead through service!

What Frank and Linda Kuepper have built through the Autism Cares Foundation is truly extraordinary. What began with one family’s determination to create more opportunities for their son has grown into a community that now serves more than 9,000 individuals with autism and other disabilities—opening doors to connection, independence, and experiences that enrich lives and strengthen families. This morning’s annual Race 4 Resources in Newtown brought our community together behind that mission and the remarkable people who carry it forward every day. My sincere thanks to Frank, Linda, and the entire ACF team for the difference you make in so many lives. Grateful to stand beside you always—and proud to call you friends.

On National POW/MIA Recognition Day, I was honored to stand with the Sigafoos family and our Richboro community in tribute to a great American patriot, U.S. Air Force Captain Walter H. Sigafoos III. On April 25, 1971, Capt. Sigafoos and his pilot, Lt. Col. Jeffrey C. Lemon, departed on a mission over Laos during the Vietnam War. They never returned and were declared Missing in Action. More than half a century later, Capt. Sigafoos’ name now has a permanent place in the community he called home. With the dedication of a portion of Second Street Pike in his honor, his courage, patriotism, and devotion to country will be carried forward for generations. Please join me in keeping the Sigafoos family in our thoughts and prayers and in expressing our deepest gratitude for Captain Sigafoos’ service and sacrifice. May every person who passes his name remember the patriots who answered our nation’s call, the families who still await their return, and the promise America must always keep: they are never forgotten.

I agree 💯. @RepGolden and @RepMGP stood up for Ukraine when it mattered most. All freedom-loving individuals across the globe owe them a huge debt of gratitude. They are on the right side of history and should be very proud.
