He was always riding Abbott/Patrick’s coattails and running behind both. He eked out a win by 3.5% against a no-name Dem in 2018, and I realized I’d never even heard the guy speak until he’d been in office for a decade.
He was an invisible candidate for good reason.
He won statewide in TX in the days when you could straight party vote. He never had to campaign statewide. Now he is the top of the ticket, you can't straight party vote...and he simply isn't campaigning. No signs, no mailers, few ads - even the ads are mostly anti-Talarico, never mentioning Paxton.

Talarico took this moment of profound tragedy and used it to spread a deliberate lie that's now been viewed 1.3 million times. This isn't just political spin; it's a disgusting manipulation of a heartbreaking event.
