Three years ago today, the world witnessed the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Families were torn apart, children kidnapped, women assaulted, and the elderly slaughtered: some 809 civilians were killed, while 252 would endure captivity as hostages.
In January, the last body of the hostages killed was finally returned following the return of the last living hostage last year. The return offered some closure to the conflict as the last body was laid to rest, but we know the scourge of antisemitism is not over.
The hatred that fueled October 7th did not remain on foreign shores. Right here in Canada, far too many synagogues, Jewish businesses and institutions have been the targets of harassment and hate.
This is not, and cannot become, normal. Conservatives will always fight against antisemitism and all forms of hatred: protecting our schools, communities and places of worship so that Canadians of all faiths can live in peace and security.
Today, alongside our Jewish friends and neighbours, we remember those who lost their lives that day. May their memory be a blessing.

This is horrifying. Heather Thomas was just 10 years old when she was abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered. She never got the chance to grow up, learn to cook, build a career, or live the life that was stolen from her.
Her killer, Shane Ertmoed, is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder. Last year, he was denied day parole over concerns he could pose a risk of serious harm. Now, thanks to Liberal laws, he has been granted a 60-day unescorted absence to attend a cooking program.
Our laws should protect innocent Canadians and put victims first, not give convicted child killers opportunities outside prison that their victims will never have. Canadians deserve a justice system that puts public safety, accountability and the rights of victims ahead of privileges for violent offenders.

Pierre Poilievre's U.S. media tour was a major success.
On CNBC's Squawk Box, Poilievre made the Canadian case for tariff-free trade and elicited support from Joe Kernen, the show's most pro-Trump panellist, who said, "It doesn't make sense" to attack Canada.
On Fox Business Network, Poilievre elicited public support from Larry Kudlow, Trump's former Director of the National Economic Council, to drop tariffs on Canada.
Both programs are heavily watched by administration officials and American business leaders because the hosts are trusted individuals.
