Really? Had to think today of an interview I had some time ago with Mohamed @ElBaradei, former IAEA Director General and ex-Egyptian Vice President. He said about the failure of the ‘Arab Spring’: the people of Egypt had no experience with democracy, people actually did not know what democracy means. Yes, democracy was a dream, a deeply felt wish. But what was needed, what should happen after the successful demonstrations, was unclear. Large-scale demonstrations led to the overthrow of the leadership. Infrastructure and expereinced leadership to effectively fill the gaps, lacked. At the same time, the deep state was supreme, according to ElBaradei: so, faces were simply replaced by other faces. And then the Arab Spring died a silent death. The protests imploded, people were harrassed, violently punished, and voices silenced. Think for example of #Libya, #Iraq, #Iran. What’s the difference after 50 years of theocratic oppression with the situation in Egypt in 2011.. ? The bombing by Israel and the US is not only illegal, but extremely risky as well, endangering regional stability and costing many additional civilians’ lives. And also think about the influence on oil prices.

Millions of Americans are learning for the first time about Israel’s genocidal “Where’s Daddy” targeting system, and the IDF’s policy of exterminating entire Gaza families in their homes while they sleep

Apartheid Israel created the largest # of child amputees in modern history in Gaza and is now preventing crutches from entering Gaza. Israel is a caricature of pure evil.
Powerful and utterly upsetting. Today in the Irish Examiner. 800 items NOT allowed into Gaza and it's only half the actual list. 4 standout for me: - Toys - Crutches - Babies nappies - Cancer medication Israel PREVENTS the very basics of life

Watch: Yuli Novak, B’Tselem’s Executive Director, speaking at the launch of our new report, The Elimination Project, and calling on the international community to act: “How much more evidence do you need before you act? Statements do not protect anyone until they become action. Every day without meaningful action gives Israel more time to deepen this project and make it harder to reverse.” The Elimination Project shows how Israel is systematically using interconnected mechanisms: violence, displacement, restrictions on movement, economic strangulation and political repression to dismantle the conditions that allow Palestinians to exist as a collective in the West Bank, while expanding and entrenching Israeli control and Jewish supremacy. The international community must stop treating these isolated violations and end the impunity that allows this system to continue. Read the full report >> btselem.org/the_elimination_…

An unbelievable racist comment from this privileged nepo-baby. Gaza didn’t work because the repressive Israeli didn’t allow it to work. From the beginning of the occupation, Israel denied Palestinians the opportunity to grow & prosper. In 2006, they turned Gaza into a prison camp
Jared Kushner: "Gaza has not worked for a very, very long time. It was basically built by NGOs and terrorists, and it's been a dystopian place for a long time."

Oshrit Aliga, an Israeli prison security officer, seen here joking about inserting her baton into Palestinian prisoners that require "a fair number of disinfections." Reminder that Apartheid Israel operates the most well-documented network of rape dungeons on earth.
A horrific expose on the murder of Palestinian prisoner Tha'er Abu Assab, a Palestinian prisoner at Ketziot prison by guards in November 2023 appeared in Haaretz today. Among the most damning evidence in the case are the texts of one warden, Oshrit Aliga, who as you can see in the video inlcuded here was literally the poster child for the Israeli Prison Services. Here are the texts verbatim: On the night Tha'er Abu Assab, was murdered, she texted a friend: "Sweetie, here is an update for you, he's dead now." She added that she was "very happy and satisfied, but it's a mess right now. There was a lot of blood and they broke them." Follow-up clarification to her friend: "It'll be fine, I'm glad it happened. I'm ready to put my career on the line for this, I'm at peace with it, all of us are. The commander knew something like this would happen. he told us in the briefing and also asked, whoever feels they can't handle it should say so, because he really wanted to break them. I'm really fine, but you know how it is, investigations and all that mess." WhatsApp exchange with her friend, December 2023 (re: new detainees arriving): "They brought some Amalek-son whores down in the middle of the street, sitting there on the ground with just underwear and blindfolds on. I'm already getting myself and the shift ready to receive them for Shabbat, we will give them a proper Shabbat reception." Responding to her friend's joke about her baton: "My club is fine, after a fair number of disinfections." "Imagine me and you in a cell with two prisoners cuffed hand to hand, and the shift commander tells us 'go ahead, cut loose', sweetie, I swear you'd have enjoyed it here with me." When her friend asked if she physically hits them: "I wish I had a way to prove it to you, to show you something, I swear to you, sis, I break them apart. You've never known me like this. [This is] routine. [When the] next round comes, if I haven't cracked one of his kidneys, as far as I'm concerned I'm not going into the wing." WhatsApp exchange with her domestic partner, corrections officer Tamer Trudi, same month: "We got another 70 whores from October 7th. Each one of course got a personal welcome, and some got a joint one because of the [limited] supply of handcuffs." After Trudi replied "Haha, how nice that there's always a welcome": "And since we were already tired from hitting them, the commander took off his belt and undid it on them. And the screaming , like females — at minimum they're a punching bag." Watch the video to see her enthusiastic physical training that allows her to murder and torture inmates. She has not been charged for her crimes despite the overwhelming evidence, though others have for that murder.

Congratulations South Africa Legal Team. What a gift to humanity you are.
South Africa has officially submitted a substantial dossier to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), detailing Israel’s continued non-compliance with legally binding provisional measures. The submission, formally handed over on 25 August 2026, serves to assist an ICJ committee of judges tasked with monitoring the implementation of the court’s orders in Gaza. According to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), Israel’s non-compliance directly undermines the protective functions of international justice. Hence, the submission is a vital milestone in the struggle for global accountability. By formally documenting Israel’s refusal to adhere to the court’s binding provisional measures, Pretoria is doing far more than advocating for Palestinian survival.
DRC envoy tells media @UN the Security Council's 1st straw poll will be held on Thursday, July 30, most likely in the morning, in the SC's consultation room. The latest candidate to throw his hat in the ring, Olara Ottunu, of Uganda, will be included in the poll, even though he has not gone through the GA public hearing. This could set a path for others to jump over that process.

Two years ago, on 19 July 2024, the International Court of Justice confirmed that Israel's continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territory is unlawful and clarified the obligations of all States not to recognize or assist that unlawful situation, and to cooperate in bringing it to a rapid end. Since then, the law has become clearer. Implementation has not. This article reflects on what has changed over the past two years, with particular attention to developments in the West Bank and Gaza, and the continuing uncertainty surrounding the duty of international cooperation. It argues that the principal challenge today is no longer identifying the applicable law, but giving practical content to one of the Court's most significant findings: the obligation of States to cooperate in bringing an unlawful situation to an end.
