If you have both Python and Douglas Adams in you life, you can cope with most things. If youโre a @dragonsrugby and @SpursOfficial supporter, you can cope with anything.
This was the scene when Nigel Farage visited the RNLI station at Redcar yesterday. Iโm going to keep this short and sweet as I donโt want my contact there to get in any shit over this, but the visit was (allegedly) completely unannounced and obviously a bit of a sly photo op (allegedly). If his people had (allegedly) tried to arrange it in advance, I think we all know what the answer may have been (allegedly) โฆ

Plaid Cymru want to close M4 junctions in Newport:
โ J27 High Cross: full closure
โ J26 Malpas: east slips
โ J25 Caerleon: east slips
Traffic chaos for residents, and the report admits worse air quality and noise. I'm totally opposed.

Shocked and appalled by Plaid's proposals to close motorway junctions across the city. Will cause absolute carnage on the local road network and more misery for motorists and public transport users alike.
So, the Prime Minister thinks it would be a good idea to allow football fans to drink at their seats.
Here - from a Gwladrugby piece of a few years ago - is a warning from Welsh rugby. This is what it's like when fans can drink in their seats.

Hi @Ofcom are you able to do anything or are you completely fucking useless? Asking for a nation that is asking serious questions about your charter and purpose.
@ofcom - when an MP hosts his own TV show on a TV Channel that are paying him and then re-posts clips from that show on his social media account branded with his Party's logo.
At what point will you do your job?
Six weeks later the triple glazed windows are so airtight the house starts sweating out condensation that smells faintly of quinoa and regret. Mattโs already calling the architect babe and Bryonyโs started referring to the site manager as my other husband. Kevin just stands there in his coat looking like a man whoโs seen this exact episode twelve times and still canโt believe they keep commissioning it.
"Kevin" @d5_rss has posted 370k times since Jan 2020.. He's averaging more than 6 posts an hour, every hour, 24 hours a day for six years straight now and hasn't stopped to go to the bog once..
Fucking lols..
Round-the-clock vigilance, 365 days a year.
@SercoGroup will operate and maintain the Solid State Phased Array Radar at RAF Fylingdales under a new five-year contract we've awarded.
Designed to track missiles, acting as a deterrent within the US Missile Defence network. ๐จ
Serco is operating a nuclear missile detection radar at RAF Fylingdales.
Genuine question: at what point did we decide that tracking incoming nuclear warheads was a job for an outsourcing company?
This is a facility within the US Missile Defence network. It detects ballistic missile launches. It provides early warning of nuclear attack. It operates 24/7/365. It is one of the most sensitive military installations on British soil.
And it's run by the company that couldn't staff the Olympics and charged the taxpayer for tagging dead people.
What happens when the contract expires in five years? Serco renegotiates. From a position of strength. Because by then THEY have the institutional knowledge.
THEY have the trained staff. THEY understand the system. The MoD has nobody who can replace them because the capability was outsourced five years ago.
That's the outsourcing trap. Year one: competitive tender. Year five: sole supplier. Year ten: permanent dependency.
The contractor becomes irreplaceable because the client gave away the capability to replace them.
Missile defence should be:
Operated by RAF personnel. Trained in-house. Knowledge retained in the military. No contractor dependency. No five-year renegotiation cycle. No profit margin on nuclear early warning.
If the radar fails at 3am who's accountable? An RAF commanding officer in the chain of command?
Or a Serco shift manager reporting to a regional director reporting to a board in London reporting to shareholders?
When the thing that detects nuclear missiles is run by a company whose primary obligation is shareholder returns, the priorities are no longer aligned with national security. They're aligned with the contract.
builduk.club defence charter. Sovereign capability. In-house operation. No outsourcing of existential infrastructure.
