Ex-investment mngr, now consultant. No tweet represents investment advice. RETWEETS ARENT ENDORSEMENTS. I post at Energy Investing as Doomonyou

NJ
I am the admin of two public energy investing message boards (doomonyou at both). Due to a serious hacking attack the older board ( investorvillage.com/Groups.a…… ) is not publicly viewable and is not free to join like it used to be. It is working normally however at this time if you were a member you are still. I have setup a new public board, fully moderated, to discuss energy and metals investing at X communities at x.com/i/communities/19512553… with many of the same people there and that one is free to join and publicly viewable without consideration. For now the Investorvillage board is much busier and has recovered somewhat to its old volume of posts. But both boards will be maintained in case Investorvillage has future problems, as I am not clear on the new pay-only business model works long term. Better to be prepared.

Yield curve control of some form is coming soon, no other solution exists in reality. The voters of the West have demanded their own destruction with decades with Utopian suicide cult policies. See democracy always works, the voters always get what they demand in the end.
France is where the developed-world debt problem is cracking first. Its 10-year yield has climbed to 4.7%, the highest since 2008, and the gap over German bonds just blew out to the widest since the eurozone debt crisis. The setup is textbook. Government debt is 119% of GDP, the most since 1978, the deficit is running over 5%, and a paralyzed political system cannot pass the 54 billion euros of cuts needed to slow it. So France has to sell a record pile of new debt next year while refinancing cheap pandemic-era bonds at much higher rates. Interest costs compound from here. This is the bond market doing the job politicians will not. France is just the first to crack. Every government that borrowed freely into a world of higher rates is on the same road, the US included. The era of free money is over, and the bond market is sending the bill.

Peak demographics. Peak deficit A lot of peaking happening
People talk about the US demographic cliff as if it's in the distant future. 2026 is on track for the lowest population growth in 100+ years.

Iran struck at least 8 vessels in 5 days, without any "response" from the U.S despite the "tanker-for-tanker" policy announced on Sept 2. There are two reasons to this: - They don't want to escalate as long as only few tankers are struck and few seafarers die. - They don't want Iran to retaliate like the last time they did. (UKMTO map of reported incidents since Sept 2)
UKMTO reports an Oil tanker has been struck by a projectile less than 2 hours ago in the southern corridor of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran struck at least 8 vessels in 5 days.

There was no medical oxygen or mask in the execution chamber where Tennessee tried and failed to kill convicted murderer Christa Pike, which meant staff had to go and get it when things went wrong, according to a source who witnessed what happened. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/-me…

NEW: According to a bombshell report in the New York Times, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah threatened to walk out of Pope Leo XIV’s AI encyclical launch in May because the pope rejected the idea that machines can be conscious. Olah’s team then privately lobbied the pope’s advisers “to take the possibility of model consciousness seriously.” Pope Leo XIV held firm. For months, Anthropic has wined and dined theologians and religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing. thelettersfromleo.com/p/nyt-…

BREAKING: Saudi Arabia plans 100,000-troop Yemen offensive to retake the Bab el-Mandeb from Yemen's Houthis, without any US support and all troops under Saudi command, supported by Saudi air strikes and expected to launch in the coming weeks, per Reuters. Crown Prince MBS is weighing a narrow push along the coast around Bab el-Mandeb or a broader offensive on multiple fronts, with synchronized attacks in Al-Bayda, Marib, Taiz and Al-Jawf. The US and Saudi Arabia's other allies are not expected to take any part in combat operations, after Trump refused MBS's requests for US strikes and then called off strikes with bombs already loaded on US warplanes two weeks ago.

To justify today's AI capex, we'll have to spend 9% of GDP on AI services, a study finds. Is it plausible we'll spend as much on AI as on food? Twice as much as on energy? The law of diminishing returns would like a word. My column: wsj.com/tech/ai/will-america…

"Confidential data shared with The New York Times by a Western security official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss operational matters shows that Iran has been launching dozens of drones and missiles at commercial ships in the strait each week, largely out of the public eye, though it has often failed to strike its targets." nytimes.com/2026/10/02/world…

I am used to seeing very stupid takes on this app But I feel like "shooting a visibly armed naval warship during a war" is a war crime because the warship claimed it wasn't armed is a heck of a peak to hit
104 Iranian sailors, many in their late teens, unarmed, thousands of miles away at a training event with other nations. Their final words to the US warship that slaughtered them "we are unarmed". The law of armed conflict states survivors to be recused - the US ignored this.

Sometimes, a ban isn't a ban, but a lever. 🤓
Call me conspiracy theorist, but it feels as if Trump's talking about the diesel ban is all about sending a message to EU/UK: release diesel from your SPRs (and stop bidding up the market to beef up said reserves) and talk to Zelenskyy. Or else I close your diesel lifeline.
