My entire day got ruined today . I was riding to the office on the Electronic City flyover today. Everything felt normal until some idiot threw a huge polythene bag out of a car window.
I was around 25 mts behind them when the bag somehow got stuck in my bike’s chain at around 60 kmh
I somehow managed to control the bike and avoid the heavy traffic coming from behind. Honestly, I was extremely lucky to miss what could’ve been a major accident.
I had to pull over and spent almost 30 mins trying to get the damn bag out of the chain. My hands and shirt were covered in grease.
The kind of stupid things people do without thinking about the consequences genuinely baffles me. Still processing how close that was. 😭

Thursday is usually our worst traffic day. Today was our best.
GPS data from 61 school buses:
Evening: 0 routes late, 44 minutes earlier at an average
Morning: on time, no Thursday spike
This isn't just our earlier dispersal. At the old timing, late routes fell from 21 yesterday to 8 today. The roads genuinely moved better.
Our teams on the ground credit more police on the corridor and heavy vehicles kept off the road.
Thank you @blrcitytraffic @wftrps @CPBlr @Jointcptraffic @DCPTrEastBCP and GBA for acting so quickly.
Let's not make this a one-week bandaid. Please keep these measures in place, and extend the heavy-vehicle restriction to school hours. That's about 4 of 24 hours, for ~40000 children.

An update on Varthur–Gunjur–Sarjapur Road.
Here is a 7th grader’s illustration of his daily journey. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
As a temporary workaround, we advanced school dispersal by 30 minutes. Thankfully, @blrcitytraffic and @wftrps restricted heavy vehicles and deployed additional traffic personnel.
The impact even for one day was dramatic -
Morning delays fell from an average of 13 minutes each day to just 1 minute
Students reached home 36 minutes earlier in the evening!
If better traffic management alone can make such a difference, imagine what repairing and widening the road could achieve.
This is proof that the problem is solvable when the Government, police, schools and communities come together to acknowledge and address an issue that is hurting our children.
Our sincere thanks to the Government and traffic police for listening and acting. Now we must work together to make these improvements sustained not temporary

Data from school buses shows that average commute time has risen 22% in two years, to 112 minutes a day. Over two years of schooling, that adds up to more than a full school term spent on the road. This corridor serves 42 schools and around 40,000 students.
Behind those numbers are children losing time for play, rest, family and learning
We appreciate the traffic police’s recent restrictions on heavy vehicles during school hours. They show that coordinated action can help. Now we need to sustain those efforts, repair and improve the roads, and accelerate longer-term public transport solutions.

Bengaluru: Wind Tunnel underpass work is 80% complete & box-pushing work remaining. GBA Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao directed officials to expedite pending works & complete the project by Nov-end.
During an inspection in Central Bengaluru, Rao also ordered a notice to a building under construction near Domlur for failing to maintain the required setback. Officials were directed to disconnect power to a commercial building built without the required setback.
He also directed road repairs at Domlur Junction & Saibaba Temple Road, restoration of roads after BWSSB works and removal of footpath obstructions.
At Kodihalli PHC, he ordered CCTV cameras, a biomedical waste room and adequate medicines. Officials were also told to clear fallen tree branches & keep shoulder drains clean. @GBAChiefComm @GBA_office
Bengaluru Development Minister @krishnabgowda on Friday directed contractor executing Rs 19-crore Wind Tunnel Junction underpass project on Old Airport Road to deploy additional manpower & complete the work within three months.
During an inspection, he said utility shifting, including BWSSB, BESCOM, sewer and OFC lines, has been completed. Around 75% of the 300-metre, four-lane underpass project is complete. Officials said temporary roads will be built to maintain traffic while pre-fabricated box structures and service roads are completed @GBAChiefComm
