We are looking at a truly unprecedented weather pattern. Hurricane Nolo is set to impact the islands this weekend, marking a historic third hurricane in just one year—and there are several more storms lining up behind it in the Pacific.
Even though Nolo is not expected to make direct landfall, the flooding and wind threats are a big deal, at least for the Big Island.
📍 Big Island: Extreme flooding risk with up to 30 inches of rain possible.
📍 Maui: Dangerous rainfall totals up to 20 inches.
📍 Honolulu & Oahu: Tropical storm-force wind gusts ranging from 39 to 74 MPH.

Since there are no hurricanes to cool the Atlantic, we can expect stronger Nor'easters this season to help the cooling. Models now show a strong Nor'easter coming this weekend, first moving NNE and then suddenly turning WNW - much like Sandy did in 2012

Why did the El Nino forecasts from April 2026 do so poorly? Why did the models miss the unusual 2024/25/26 hurricane seasons, and polar ice growth during summers? Most likely the same reason why the models can't explain the 2024/25 post-Hunga Tonga volcano heat spike.

Those who are sad about melting glaciers should wait a bit ... because ice age glaciations now repeat about once every 100,000 years. In fact, there have been about 43 glaciations in the past 2.5 million years. This is exciting to watch and unfortunately - very chilling.
