Your party, your Scottish government drove them away with your relentless anti-oil/gas virtue signalling and greenwashing. You put pandering to the left of your base above people.
Few in Aberdeen will be shocked by this, but there will be fury that more uncertainty is being piled on to our city and its world class workforce. The workforce, our collective energy security and our economy needs protected by those who hold the levers of power in London.

Andrew, Oil and Gas is reserved to Westminster. Taxation, such as the O&G Windfall tax was introduced by WM parties and wasn't influenced by the SNP government - your favourite whipping boy. The SNP Government has zero legislative powers that would have contributed to BPs decision to sell their business.

This is why Scots know where their bread is buttered and another independence vote is a dead duck in the water. The SNP have destroyed the basics in Scotland!
Independence isn’t a general election. It’s not a policy tweak you can reverse in five years. It’s a permanent decision about the existence of the state itself. Treating it like another campaign cycle is how you get a ‘neverendum’ and Scotland deserves better than permanent constitutional limbo. open.substack.com/pub/edgrah…

That’s right, virtue signalling ruined O&G in the North Sea, NOT windfall taxes, increased NI nor the fact it ran out in 2019 🤦

Well said Andrew, slightly more politely than I would have said to him. Their deliberate cosying up to the deviant Green Party here to enable support for them was more important than jobs in the area.

Energy policy oil & gas are matters reserved to Westminster. Remember how Tories sold off Britoil? Norway currently sitting on a massive Sovereign Wealth Fund while UK sits on a £3 trillion National Debt pile! A Westminster creation.

The SNP’s key anti-oil & gas policy moves: ❌ Shifted away from Maximum Economic Recovery ❌ Formally declared opposition to the Cambo oil field ❌ Proposed a "presumption against" new North Sea exploration ❌ Enacted an effective permanent ban on onshore fracking

They lost a recent by-election in Aberdeen because the voters saw through SNP games Hostile towards oil and gas for years. Welcomed the Tory 75% windfall tax Presumption against new licences Now some pretend they are in favour just to win votes Meantime Swinney sits on the fence

@theSNP sure have a mental illness called devious liar syndrome. How can anyone take this organisation seriously? Regardless of all their devious and damaging policies, Scottish people voted for this. It’s mind boggling.

Try telling the truth, Mr Neil. Scotland is not an Independent State. It has v limited powers, & what powers it does have are ultimately subject to WM control. You can’t have it both ways- blame Scotland for everything, but don’t grant the powers to decide for ourselves.

Not enough profits... Greed in other words! Shareholders wanting more, trim the fat and sell what's not profitable! Don't want to pay tax on their money! Are we supposed to let them drill for nothing? We give millions to them and they piss off cause it's not profitable!

The left are the people, Andrew, especially the ones in Glenburn, whether they are electricians or cotton mill workers. You put your background behind you the moment you joined the Conservatives as a student. You long ago left Scotland, where the right-wing views you now champion remain a minority. Don’t confuse abandoning your roots with everyone else abandoning the left.
