😂Exactly Kevin! Well done. Now, see that ‘one kingdom’ ? Right. Let’s try this again. A kingdom is the territorial jurisdiction of a crown. With me so far? In 1707 there were two kingdoms & two crowns of Scotland & England. The Treaty and Acts of Union authorised the creation of a single kingdom of Great Britain - exactly as it says. But this did not happen. Instead, the English coronation oath was ‘extended to Scotland’, i.e. Scotland was added to the English Crown. its own crown remains as a constitutional institution, a fact in law while Scotland is ‘administered’ under that crown. That gives not one kingdom but two no matter how you spin it. Thats why Scotland retains its territorial boundaries and is known as a ‘sovereign territorial nation’. No ‘one kingdom’ to bee seen. So, oh dear, what the treaty said was to happen and what actually happened are two very different things. And the key is right there in the passage you cite. Careful of those dismissive emojis; you may not have as much knowledge or insight as you think!
