It's perfectly in order to say you think the Zionism is Racism motion was unwise, ill-timed or what you will. The trouble is that if you do not say that what's happened since is a mammoth bad-faith campaign of hysteria and intolerance, you are contributing to that campaign.

Antisemitism is serious. That’s precisely why it should never be weaponised as a political football. Labour doing so should disgust people across every community. And all this while they continue to arm a genocide and lock up pensioners.
Antisemitism is a cancer in our politics. We fought hard to root it out of our party. We will not stand by and watch it infect public life again. theguardian.com/politics/202…

I'm the only Jewish leader of a political party. I'm a victim of Antisemitism every day and I've made it clear Jewish people are welcome in my party. You're a Prime Minister who arms a genocide and locks pensioners up for opposing it.

Feeling unsafe as a British Jew and sitting down for a chinwag with the guy who kept a book by Holocaust denier David Irving on his shelf, for the publication that published the article "In Praise of the Wehrmacht". Okie dokey.
Historian Simon Schama and Michael Gove discuss the resurgence of anti-Semitism in Britain, why British Jews increasingly feel unsafe, and what history can teach us about the war in Gaza. Watch in full | youtu.be/o7nMNK2jwk4 @michaelgove @simon_schama

All in favour of Zack Polanski expressing support for Caroline Lucas in face of criticism & online abuse. But frankly Lucas needs to do same for him *&* for Green members, being smeared as 'antisemites' by msm & political establishment for expressing legitimate anti Zionist views

Having made Ep 2 of the Labour Files I thought nothing could shock me but the crudeness of the media’s attempts to Corbyn Polanski is truly breathtaking. Let’s apply what might be called journalism to this Observer piece. Firstly – the headline claim – “membership plummets”. Apparently one local party (unnamed) has seen a two-point drop in membership since the Zionism is racism motion was passed. IF replicated nationally this would mean 4,400 people - less than 2% of the membership. You’ll not be startled to learn the Observer entirely omits one key stat from the Opinium poll, which can be found online. “Over half (56%) of current Green voters think the Green Party were right the pass the motion, while only 13% said they were wrong.” Most of the other stats involve comparisons with the unprecedented highs Polanski took the Greens to in the spring. At 9% the Greens are simply back to where they were the day Polanski became leader. Polanski has transformed the Green Party – quadrupling its membership to almost quarter of a million and placing it in a position where it was able to pressure the Labour Party into removing a sitting prime minister – a level of influence Green Party leaders of the past could only dream of. Polanski is being subjected to this level of vitriol precisely because he represents a threat in a way Caroline Lucas never did. Green voters and members now face a simple test. Do they trust their own eyes and ears – or do they do what the BBC, the Guardian and the Observer tell them to do. Since they did this to Corbyn tens of thousands of Palestinian children have been slaughtered. It has transformed the way potential Green voters see the world. In many cases that is why they have become Green voters. It’s astonishing the degree to which the political/media class remains trapped in the mind set of 2018. observer.co.uk/news/politics…

Journalists and politicians, with a straight face, will still ask “are you not holding Israel to a higher standard?" Israel has been held to zero standards. Not even the standard of “do not commit genocide.”

As the Green Party more than triples its vote share in Holborn and St Pancras, we in the media must ask a very obvious question: why is Zack Polanski's leadership such a massive failure?

This discussion this week has reminded me that: 1. The media will do everything it can to twist the narrative to undermine anyone that stands against the establishment. After the incredible success the Greens have had in the last year, absolutely ridiculous that every news debate today about if Zack should go. 2. You get far more hassle for calling out racism than for actually being a racist.

ironically she's right about one thing – Polanski not showing up to vote on ZiR was a sign of weakness. he clearly was not enthusiastic about the motion but wanted to avoid taking sides, allowing infighting to fester on the eve of a crucial byelection

Amid all the hysteria, it is worth remembering that “Zionism is racism” was once an official UN General Assembly position. In 1975, Resolution 3379 determined that “Zionism is a form of racism and racial discrimination.” It was only repealed in 1991 after a major US campaign

There’s a rather strange position among the soft left that, somehow, correctly identifying the racist ideology that reached ultimate expression in genocide does nothing “material” for Palestinians False. In my view it is the beginning point for calibrating any effective action.
