I think everyone's pretty tired of information.

I wrote 4 essays this month: one each on AI agents, group chats, community software & social media algorithms Here are some reflections on the mini series -It's always fun hitting publish because new essays act as permission for people to reach out to you, and every time I posted an essay ~5-6 new people hit me up to chat -There was die off in engagement over the month as the novelty of the series wore off (makes sense tbh, even I was getting tired of my own writing) -Tech and what it means to be human feels like a squishy topic, but I liked doing personal essays on this stuff and will probably do more in a similar spirit -Trying to come up with something concrete to say that's fresh every week is more difficult than I thought, but it's a great forcing function to clarify your thoughts + do the work on a topic -I think there's a spectrum between writing something original vs. writing something that's mostly interpreting the current thing through personal experience... and I've realized maybe 20% of my writing has something new to say vs. 80% is mostly inviting you into my worldview -I like the spectacle of seasonal bursts of writing on a theme & I'll probably do surges of writing like this again in the future -800 words seems to be a good length and more people got through these posts than my past essays -2x per month (instead of weekly) feels more reasonable going forward, both for my own creative pace and so I don't clutter people's inboxes >Thank you + shoutout to everyone who read any of the essays! if you see something online that you enjoyed, share it stop complaining about an algorithm you do nothing to help change the other thing to consider is that ppl spend hours writing/creating posts and they appreciate those who share or comment on their work if it's the first time you're seeing them, know they've probably been at this for years and had posts completely flop n have felt worthless. no matter the size of the creator, the appreciation for those genuinely enjoying it will always be there for many on here who don't need money from their content (like myself), these interactions inspire continued production what's in it for you, you may ask? by sharing the work of others, you are more likely to have support by them in the future. those who recognise the difficultly in allocating time to content creation are usually the first to support you might get a new follow, you might make a new connection that will respond to your dm bc they feel warmly towards you, or at the very least you did something nice for a stranger and helped improve the algorithm that desperately needs it first principle: support the homies doing cool stuff ily

Funding announcements are one of the first moments a startup has to catch your attention. Many teams decide 'what' before 'why' and compound attention in wrong or fruitless directions. Notes on positioning you should lock in before tactical marketing:

Year One.

Jesus canonically hung out with: Day Laborers (fishermen), Sex workers, Finance Bros, & unemployed people, which sounds an awful lot like a representative sample of my group chats

It's possible we each end up with personal AI agents that interpret the various feeds for us and serve us content how we want to see it (which could be cool) But it seems more likely to me that each ecosystem locks things down which would block full interoperability on this front e.g. see Amazon blocking Meta's Muse agent, then extrapolate that out to the big social media companies blocking each other So I don't know, but my current vibe check is I think feeds (and humans scrolling them) will last for a while longer, which is why they're important to get right
