🦾 Tesla is reportedly targeting a production line capable of building 1,000+ Optimus robots per week by the end of the year.
Production has already increased roughly 10× in recent months, reaching hundreds of units per week in August.
However, scaling Optimus production remains challenging, with the robot’s complex hands and supplier constraints among the biggest hurdles.

Cruel to who? You know the AI is not alive right?
1. We will keep accelerating. Our AI efforts are only 3 years old, vs 6 and 10 years old for Anthropic and OpenAI. If our second derivative remains strong, SpaceX will reach pole position in about 6 months.
2. Once you far exceed the caliber of intelligence needed for a class of tasks, additional intelligence is pointless. You don’t need (and it would be cruel to put) Newton-level intelligence in your toaster!
3. Hardware is hard. Bringing massive compute online rapidly is incredibly difficult. SpaceX has demonstrated exceptional ability in this regard and will only get better.

I’ve thought about this quite a bit. The gun control debate and the AI debate are both about one thing: can We the People be trusted to handle great power ourselves, or do we hand over our freedoms to a tyrant who will dole them out to us?
Thomas Jefferson said it best. Education is the key. Most of the people who fear AI simply don’t understand it.
To those people I’ll just say: pay close attention to those who are trying to educate you vs. those who want you to remain fearful and in the dark.
