We Bring Equity Onchain

“A token is not equity. But equity can be a token.” Fairmint CEO @Joris_DLN spoke with @CoinDesk about why synthetic stock tokens must be clearly distinguished from shares recorded on an issuer’s official shareholder register. coindesk.com/business/2026/0…

Putting equity onchain doesn’t make it freely transferable. Investor eligibility, transfer restrictions and issuer rules can still be enforced as part of the transaction. If the transfer proceeds, the authoritative ownership record updates with it.

Bitcoin: ~$1.7T Global public equity markets: ~$158T Nearly 100x larger, before even counting privately held companies. That gives you a sense of the opportunity in bringing equity infrastructure onchain.
Even a maximalist valuation for a crypto-native asset like Bitcoin is still a fraction of the global economy. Measured against that scale, bringing capital markets onchain is the bigger opportunity. @YuvalRooz, 12 years into that thesis, discusses with @HenriArslanian.

Who is @fairmint ? 😎 Well, 1st of all, I did have the honor of meeting Mr @Joris_DLN in real-life recently! A very wise and solid individual Joris is the CEO & co-founder of Fairmint! 🫡 Fairmint... "From New York, we keep the official record of who owns what, and we are rebuilding it so every share in the world can move as code." We all love having our Liquidity on the canton-network:native rails right? What about our Recordkeeping? 🤔 ***Onchain Equity Capital Markets*** 1) Fairmint is building the stack...🥇 Every equity market depends on an authoritative record of who owns what. Fairmint is an SEC-Registered transfer agent operating that record on-chain 🤌 It is the foundation for issuance, compliant transactions, financing and liquidity. 2) A transfer agent native to the @CantonNetwork chain...🥈 In the United States, a company’s official list of who owns what is kept by a transfer agent, and that agent answers to the SEC. It is the control point of the entire equity market, and it is where Fairmint chose to start. Fairmint Onchain TA: The register IS the on-chain record. There is no 2nd copy...so there is nothing to reconcile and nothing to disagree! 3) Equity finally has an open standard...🥉 Cap tables used to live in whatever shape each platform chose for them. The Open Cap Table Format changed that: one open schema for issuers, share classes, holders and every transaction between them, maintained by the Open Cap Table Coalition and used by leading securities counsel. **If you own a business in the "Real World" or here on the @CantonNetwork , get in touch with @fairmint to bring your Cap Table on-chain now!

More venues for onchain equities means more systems that need to agree on who owns what. Trading can happen in different places. The shareholder record can’t tell a different story in each one. Transfers and investor rights resolve against the authoritative ownership record.

Broker-dealer, ATS and transfer agent capabilities coming together says a lot about where onchain capital markets are heading. For onchain equity, those functions need to connect back to the authoritative shareholder record.
BREAKING: MoonPay to acquire North Capital @norcap is a private-markets infrastructure platform that combines API-first technology and SEC regulated brokerage services, with $8.7 billion in transaction volume, and over 1,250 approved assets for secondary-market trading!

Putting the ownership register onchain while keeping the transfer agent responsible for administering it is a strong model for institutional assets. The infrastructure changes. The client experience doesn't have to.
TreasurySpring has been approved to become a Super Validator on @CantonNetwork, under a milestone-based programme. The first phase concerns the ownership register behind TreasurySpring's Fixed-Term Fund Shares. 🧵

For years, builders had to choose: - consumer-grade onboarding & distribution - institutional-grade financial rails In 2021, @fairmint , we started working with @sternhenri, @asta_li & the @privy_io team to eliminate that trade-off. Privy never stopped innovating. Neither did we. Now it’s time to open a route from Privy-powered applications to @CantonNetwork. This isn’t another integration. It’s two worlds becoming one. Onchain.
.@privy_io , in numbers: 160M+ accounts across 180+ countries. We’re bringing that reach to @CantonNetwork & to the shareholders of every company on @fairmint One toolkit. An entire developer ecosystem. A new route into institutional onchain finance 🫡

A new route from Privy apps to Canton is on the table. @fairmint is seeking 3.5 million CC for a developer toolkit, with funding tied to delivery and independent adoption. cantonnews.org/fairmint-seek…

Tokenized stocks can trade, lend, borrow and move through DeFi. But if the token moves while the official ownership record stays somewhere else, someone still has to keep the two in sync. That’s the reconciliation problem. Why not bring the ownership record onchain too?

Pontes brings the cash leg onchain. But what about the asset leg? If the token moves but the official ownership record doesn’t, we’re still reconciling two systems. The real unlock is bringing both onchain.
🇪🇺BREAKING: ECB launches “Digital Euro” for banks as Pontes begins tokenized finance pilot. President of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde announces The ECB is launching Pontes today, a platform that will connect private blockchain networks with the TARGET system, allowing banks to settle tokenized assets directly in central bank money. “It's digital euro made available for banks,” the ECB says, allowing institutions to transact using tokenized assets and DLT “faster, without friction," she  adds. Pontes is the first step toward the ECB’s broader Appia ecosystem for tokenized financial markets, while consumer-facing digital euro testing is planned for mid-2027.

This is equity today. A lot of databases and middlemen just to keep track of the same basic question: who owns what? Put the authoritative shareholder register onchain. Record ownership once, at the source.
I think people massively underestimate how many financial products are basically just databases with a shitload of middlemen around them.

Hey founders if you’re early, they’ll have your back. @BraytonKey, @AdamDraper, @MaddieCallander & the entire @BoostVC team. Disclosure: they backed @fairmint seven years ago. We wouldn’t be where we are today without them 🫡
The #1 reason VCs pass on great founders: “You’re too early.” We want @BoostVC to be the place those founders go. First yes. First check. Nothing is too early.

Your cap table shouldn’t become a problem because your provider is shutting down. Preserve your ownership records. Keep your team moving. Moving from Pulley? We’ll help make the transition simple.

Why is Fairmint’s cap table free? Because maintaining your cap table shouldn’t be the business model. We want to grow when you do — when you raise capital and need more from your equity infrastructure. Moving from Pulley? 1st of all...What is a "Cap Table" ? 🤔👇 Official record of who owns a company and how that ownership is structured. It lists every shareholder: Founders, employees, advisors, and investors along with the exact securities they hold, such as common stock, preferred stock, options, warrants, SAFEs, or convertible notes! 😳 It typically includes:👇 1) Number of shares or units each person or entity owns 2) Ownership percentage both current outstanding and fully diluted 3) Type of equity and any special rights and liquidation preferences for preferred stock 4) How ownership changes after funding rounds, option grants, or conversions Startups rely on it at every major milestone from: *Fundraising *409A Valuations *Secondary Sales *Acquisitions *IPOs **An accurate cap table prevents costly errors in dilution calculations and payout distributions** Companies like @fairmint offer Digital / "On-Chain versions of cap tables that stay current automatically and can be exported in standard formats like the Open Cap Table Format. This is why their recent post highlighted a free cap table as a core part of their equity infrastructure.

The CLARITY Act failed to advance in the Senate this week. But onchain equity doesn’t have to wait for a new regulatory framework. Securities law exists. Transfer agency exists. Authoritative shareholder registers exist. At Fairmint, we’re bringing that infrastructure onchain.

This is the opportunity we’ve been building toward for years. Not just tokenized securities. Onchain equity infrastructure.
Tokenized securities is the biggest thing in the global economy in 100 years. Bigger than the internet. Bigger than the PC. That’s it. That’s the tweet. Argue, ignore or refuse to get it at your own peril.

“Fully backed” solves one part of the equation. The next question is where ownership actually lives. If the authoritative shareholder register is still offchain, what exactly moved onchain? Let's start with the ownership record.
We’ve set the standard with Coinbase Tokenized Stocks. No synthetics or debt instruments, real fully-backed securities, redeemable for the underlying shares, with dividends integrated, and voting rights coming soon. That means access for global investors and institutions to the $70T+ US stock market built on a solid foundation.
