I don't like like as a technique to always use but I think it can be useful for getting children used to estimating. This is a technique that most of us use in our heads anyway and I'd only go for full-on long division if I needed a precise answer (and didn't have a calculator).

I'm helping teams adopt AI and unfortunately a common theme is AI is helping teams create tech debt faster. Team leads are stressed out because the tech debt is piling up faster than they can resolve it. AI is like a copy machine. If anti-patterns sneak in, they proliferate.

This is what I've seen at a couple of places. AI is basically performance testing the SDLC and finding the bottlenecks. Unsurprisingly, these bottlenecks were never the developers' typing speed.
