JUST IN: Carney's Liberal MPs have used their fake majority to SHUT DOWN a probe into Mohammad Reza Ghafouri Fard CSIS alleged he took part in procurement that benefited Iran’s military and the IRGC. His companies still collected Canadian tax dollars, including from OUR MILITARY. Reporting put those public contracts above $2 million. He is the son of a former Iranian vice-president and did business here as Sal Ghafouri. This is their MO, shut down ALL debate, shut down all accountability and HIDE ALL OF THE FACTS. Why do we tolerate this?

I can say as someone who has been working with the organizers of the independence vote that there is NO PLAN to join the USA. People in Alberta want things pretty simple Laura. They want jobs, low taxation, representation of their votes, affordable lives, and control (like bringing back a point based merit system) against importing the third world to protect their culture and jobs, security, and affordability. How is any of this "horrible" by anyone's logic to request this? Instead of trying to label those who have issues as the enemy, maybe you should be asking why it got here in the first place? Why did the government ignore one of their provinces to the point they wanted to leave?

He has helped build the West. Maybe more than anyone else in terms of building businesses, employing people of every race / age / ethnicity / religion / gender AND providing by choice incredible community donations. And many $billions of salary and thus taxes. Yes @Dave_Eby and his boss @AviLewis need to apologize for any abusive narrative to a gentleman who will go down in history as one of the greatest Canadians of all time. Well put @PremierScottMoe
To the boy from Luseland, Saskatchewan who has never forgotten where he came from: Thank-You! Thank you for your incredibly generous $50 million donation to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, the largest private gift in Saskatchewan history, a gift that will serve children and families here for generations. Thank You for the hundreds of millions you have invested in Saskatchewan agriculture, in broadcasting, and in grocery stores. Thank you for your investment in west coast port capacity, which helps get our potash and agriculture products to markets around the world. On behalf of a very grateful province, thank you for all of it. Wishing Jimmy Pattison a very happy, belated 98th birthday.

I find it strange that Mark Carney has announced the Pacific pipeline as well as the Edmonton to Calgary high speed rail projects just before the October 19th vote. Keep in mind both are not approved. The timing seems to be very coincidental. I will believe it when I see it!

BREAKING LIBERAL GREEN SLUSH FUND UPDATE: In response to questions put by Conservatives the Mark Carney Liberals are refusing to have taxpayers money paid back that their handpicked appointees funneled to their own companies. Even the $58 million called out by the Auditor General as going to these companies illegally. Just a refresher on the scandal. I will be posting more.
Emergency meeting TODAY to expand investigation into the corruption & cover-up at Trudeau's Green Slush Fund as handpicked fund chair found guilty of breaking ethics laws for personal gain. Why did Trudeau and senior ministers let this happen and when will the taxpayers be paid back?

🚨 MAJOR BREAKING: Carney just told the New York Times that immigration increases are coming. His exact words: "So that will happen." He didn't tell Parliament. He didn't tell Canadians. He told American media. You found out the same way you find out everything from this government. Secondhand. One message for voters at home. Another for the American press.

The Liberal government stacked a board with Liberal insiders. That board got to choose which companies got your tax money for grants. They funnelled tax dollars into their businesses. They funded bogus projects. They got caught. Now, the Liberal government says they won’t try and get your money back. They said it’s not in the public interest. The Liberal Insider Club. CBC again platforms Frank McKenna as just “former ambassador.” Same omission. Same pattern Rosemary Barton Live today's introduction: former ambassador to the United States, former premier of New Brunswick. That is all No mention that McKenna has been a Brookfield director since 2006 and Chair of Brookfield Corporation since August 2010. No mention that he brought Mark Carney onto the Brookfield board. No mention that he endorsed Carney for Liberal leadership and remains a committed Carney supporter. No Brookfield. No Carney tie. CBC has done this repeatedly. Selective disclosure is always the point Then listen to what McKenna actually said. It is not Carney’s message Carney and the government have framed a “trade war,” extreme tail-risk language about possible U.S. military action, and urgency around diversification because the relationship is supposedly broken. McKenna walked most of that back * On Carney’s New York Times comments about an “extreme tail end risk” of U.S. military action against Canada: McKenna called it banker jargon. He said the two countries are “joined at the hip” on military exercises, NORAD, and intelligence (including personnel embedded in each other’s embassies). Beneath the rhetoric, he said, be realistic — which to him means optimistic * On trade: “Over 90% of our trade, probably 95% of our trade goes across the border without tariffs.” He repeated that the two countries are each other’s extremely large partners and “it all works.” Rhetoric at the top, “trash talking,” but “life goes on.” He predicted people will eventually laugh about the current tone. That is not a trade-war frame * On a deal: He said talks are happening, including almost daily communication at the prime minister–president level. A deal is a “logical imperative.” He even flipped USTR Greer’s “no urgency” line: midterms and affordability could mean there is urgency. Get a deal. The pendulum will swing * On the new U.S. bans taking effect (alcohol, motorcycles, whey, molasses, non-alcoholic beer, etc.): “Reasonably minor.” Parties have “downed their weapons.” Canada probably will not retaliate. Tensions are in a “steady state” and will “escalate downward.” He called that good news On deepening ties with the EU after it provoked Trump: He supported it as Reagan-style “trust but diversify,” leverage so Canada can approach the U.S. as more of an equal, plus the investment summit catalyzing growth. Functional relationship, not legal entanglement. Prudential. Still: the U.S. will always be the major partner. Keep your eye on that basket. * McKenna is a Carney man. He is also the Brookfield chair who helped put Carney on that board and who took the public-facing continuity role after Carney left for politics. CBC never says any of that. It gives him the soft “former ambassador” label, lets him soothe the relationship Carney has spent months describing as crisis, and moves on If the guest is only a retired diplomat offering independent analysis, disclose nothing extra. If he is the long-time Brookfield chair, Carney recruiter, and political ally whose optimistic “get a deal / most trade is already tariff-free / this is not a war” line undercuts the government’s own messaging, say so on air. CBC never does! @brodiefenlon @RosieBarton
BS like this from Frank McKenna absolutely stinks. Mark Carney knows exactly what stocks and investments he owns. A blind trust trustee will change very little, if anything As founder of the Brookfield Global Transition Fund (BGTF) and Brookfield Global Transition Fund II (BGTF II), Carney stands to earn hundreds of millions in carried interest (performance fees) when those funds vest. He knows precisely what those funds are invested in Frank McKenna is the one who brought Carney onto the Brookfield board and endorsed him for Liberal leadership Citing U.S. Congress insider trading rules is a complete red herring CBC's Nichols had an obligation to speak up and call him out! CBC needs to have an expert on to correct McKenna. If they don't, an Ombudsman complaint is most warrant if not just for all the information on the conflicts that McKenna has with Carney that CBC deliberately omits! @brodifenlon @CBCOmbud

“Who is the economy working for?” This article about Brookfield deserves serious attention. The company has extensive interests in Canada’s infrastructure, energy and real estate. Mark Carney formerly held a senior role there, and Canadians are entitled to more than vague assurances about how potential conflicts are being managed. But are we missing the bigger picture by talking only about Carney’s personal conflict of interest? Who owns and controls the infrastructure Canadians depend on? How is public money being used, who stands to benefit, and what does this mean for Canada’s long-term economic security? Those questions deserve clear answers. Public trust depends on Canadians being able to see the decisions, the financial interests and the safeguards for themselves. If public money is being used to support private investment, the government should be able to show exactly who benefits and why it serves the public interest. Asking those questions is basic accountability. Read the article and make up your own mind.

Here is a real-world example of how Canada's retaliatory tariffs actually work. We are a Canadian manufacturer employing 40+ people in Ontario. We buy steel drums from an American manufacturer in Ohio. We bring the EMPTY drums into Canada. We fill those drums in Ontario with products WE MANUFACTURE IN CANADA. Then we ship the finished Canadian product back to customers in the United States. Simple enough. Except Canada has now imposed a 50% retaliatory tariff on U.S.-made steel drums under tariff code 7310.10.00. So let me understand the strategy. Who exactly are we trying to hurt? The American steel company already sold the steel. The American drum manufacturer already sold the drum. Our American customer still needs the finished product. The company writing the cheque for Canada's 50% tariff is us — the Canadian manufacturer employing Canadian workers. And before someone says, "Buy Canadian" — we have a Canadian drum supplier in Burlington. They're busy and their lead times are several weeks longer than our Ohio supplier. And here's the irony: The Canadian drum plant is itself owned by an American company. So we are potentially adding enormous cost and working-capital requirements to a Canadian manufacturer in an attempt to punish the United States. There may be duty-drawback relief available because we're re-exporting these drums as part of our finished product — and we're investigating that now. But think about the administrative absurdity we've created: Import an American drum → Canada charges a 50% retaliatory tariff → Canadian workers fill it with Canadian-manufactured product → ship it back to America → Canadian company applies to recover the tariff. That's not industrial policy. That's friction. If the objective is to protect and grow Canadian manufacturing, we need to start asking a very basic question before imposing retaliatory tariffs: Who actually writes the cheque? @ronmortgageguy @StephenPunwasi
