A disgraceful message from Trump. He is not worthy of the position of president of the United States. He is a corrupt, small-minded fool, setting fire to American ideals that have served us and the world well for decades. He is burning it to the ground while enriching himself and his family.
Trump: My decision on Russia is a very simple one. I don't want to do anything that will drive, foolishly, Russia away from the bargaining table. Russia is doing very little, if anything, to help the Islamic Republic of Iran, compared to what they could be doing. Zelenskyy is using Diesel Refineries in Russia as a target, knowing that these attacks are seriously hurting the world diesel markets, including those in the United States. Farmers, ranchers, and businesses of all kinds are suffering greatly from this, but Russia is, nevertheless, sending, at a low price, millions of barrels of diesel to the World. Zelenskyy doesn't care, and frankly, with all of the money that Europe is famously giving him, and that Crooked Joe Biden gave him in the past, he doesn't want to end this war, and probably never did. He could have made a better deal two years ago than he can now. His country is in shambles, a large portion of his land is lost, his oceans and seas are gone, and his male population is low, wounded, and/or dead. I WANT THIS WAR END!

I’m the proud daughter of a postal worker and a construction worker, and my family has called the Hudson Valley home for four generations. After 9/11, I went to West Point, then served 16 years and six tours overseas — only to come back home and find our country in a worse place than when I left. That’s because politicians, like political operative and lobbyist Mike Lawler, have sold out to billionaires and corporations at the expense of working people. I’m running to rein in Washington corruption so we can lower costs for working families. As your member of Congress, I will always put the Hudson Valley first. #NY17Debate

Shame on Trump Administration for welcoming Russia’s Finance Minister to the G 20 Summit in North Carolina. It was a tone deaf insult to our European allies. Worse, it undermines heroic Ukraine’s struggle against the Russian invasion. How does kissing Russia’s ass benefit America? Slava Ukraine

always a first time (MJT re tweet) , but I also agree with her
Our multibillionaire President’s Labor Day message is telling the American tax paying slaves they don’t work enough and need to work more to fund his historically high government spending, never ending Iran War, and import his foreign mystery meat, while he goes golfing at one of his many private golf courses with his best buddies in the Epstein class. Meanwhile in the real world college graduates can’t find a job, in most families both parents work their tails off, many Americans work 2-3 jobs just to make ends meet, and the national price of gas is still above $4/gallon. It’s not the American people who need to change their ways. Actually, they voted for Trump to change the Swamp in order to Make America Great Again! But instead, it turns out Trump was the very snake he warned about all along.

In 1988 Dolly Parton pulled every 7th and 8th grader in Sevier County into a room and told them to pick a buddy. She made them sign a contract.. if BOTH graduate, she hands you both $500. One fails, nobody gets paid. The county dropout rate went from 35% to 6%. She handed out the checks herself. In 1989 she offered $500 to every kid in the county who wanted to go to the local college. When Gatlinburg burned in 2016, she sent 900 families $1,000 a month for six months. You've probably heard that part. Here's the part you haven't: The fund raised more than expected, so she showed up in May and handed every one of those families another $5,000 on top. Then she quietly put $3 million into the recovery group that handles the years after the news trucks leave. She built her county an entire hospital. She played a benefit concert in 2007, Dollywood and the Stampede matched it, and LeConte Medical Center opened in 2010 with a birthing unit and a women's center in it. In 2022 she started covering 100% of tuition, books, and fees for Dollywood employees. Full-time, part-time, AND seasonal. In 1991 she paid for a bald eagle sanctuary because the birds couldn't be released back into the wild, no press release. And when Hurricane Helene came through here in Western North Carolina, she wrote a personal check for $1 million and her companies matched it. She didn't owe North Carolina anything, but she helped us anyway. She started the Imagination Library because her daddy couldn't read or write. Before he passed, he told her it was the most important thing she ever did. Rest in Peace, Dolly 🇺🇸

Dolly Parton was a singular American icon whose extraordinary voice, joyful spirit and generous heart brought light to millions and made America kinder and more hopeful. Dolly was a committed philanthropist and a trailblazer who empowered women to find their own voices and be their authentic selves. May her legacy of beauty and artistry always be an inspiration.

There’s a part of Jon Ossoff’s Atlanta rally everyone missed, and it may have been the most powerful moment of the entire night. “I’ve got two little girls at home. Eva’s four and Lila’s one… But this isn’t the world I want to leave them.” Then he put America’s broken priorities into one devastating sentence: “We’ve amassed enough firepower to end the world a thousand times over, but we can’t summon the will to guarantee health care and pre-K.” And then came the line every parent will feel in their bones: “When Eva’s old enough to ask me why I let this happen, I’m determined to answer truthfully… THAT I DIDN’T.” 🔥🔥🔥 This is the entire damn fight.

Trumps idiotic desire to annex the Strait of Hormuz damages US American interests around the world, not just in the Middle East. He sounds like an imperialist from the 19th century. And we know it will never happen, but just saying so — like musing about annexing Greenland— makes us look like fools. So embarrassing; so bad for our country.

🚨 Russian Missile Destroys American Drone Factory in Kyiv As Russia Tries to Murder More Americans And Destroy US Companies In Ukraine 🚨 A Russian ballistic missile strike just destroyed the Terminal Autonomy drone plant in Kyiv. The factory belonged to a US corporation registered in Delaware, making it the first time in this war that Moscow has deliberately targeted an American defense company operating on Ukrainian soil. This isn’t however the first time Russia has fired missiles at American businesses in Ukraine, as I highlighted while I was in Kyiv a few days ago and showed the attacks on @McDonalds. Terminal Autonomy produced high-precision, long-range attack drones equipped with guidance systems designed to resist Russian electronic warfare and jamming. The facility is now completely destroyed. Yesterday was one of the worst ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv yet, killing multiple people. This is exactly the escalation I warned about when I visited Ukraine. Russia is no longer just hitting Ukrainian infrastructure or local defence firms—it is now destroying American companies that have invested, built, and operated inside Ukraine to help the country defend itself. US capital, US technology, and US workers’ efforts on the ground have become legitimate targets in Moscow’s eyes. The message from the Kremlin is clear: if you stand with Ukraine, even as a private American company, you are in the crosshairs. The United States must treat this accordingly. We should stand firmly within Ukraine—against Russia—and not just with distant statements. The House should expedite the vote on the Russia-Iran sanctions bill and make it clear to Putin that attacks on American interests and partners in Ukraine carry real consequences. Anything less signals that Russian missiles can keep erasing US assets with impunity. Russia has now brought the war directly onto American corporate soil in Kyiv. The response should match the seriousness of that step. @POTUS @SteveWitkoff @jaredkushner @PeteHegseth

I think you'll find some commentators unwilling to go here because it requires admitting that they overinterpreted the 2024 election as a deep, durable cultural shift in the direction of right wing nationalism, or at least it complicates that story considerably.
It hasn't penetrated the discourse that Trump squandered traditional GOP edge in 3 key areas: Economy, immigration, nat'l security. It's also underappreciated that this happened due to failure of major tenets of right wing nationalism. Thoughts on this: newrepublic.com/article/2137…
