Instead, HE HAS BEEN PROMOTED to Acting Deputy Secretary for Tax Policy.
In this role, he is institutionalizing a new standard for what the IRS audits and investigates. That rule: “The IRS doesn’t like it.” Ask any high-end tax lawyer or CPA about it and they will tell you it’s happening.
That rule has nothing to do with the laws Congress passed, or the policies of the Trump Administration. It is a Deep State standard based on nothing but the whims of bureaucracy.
Who do these new “the IRS doesn’t like it” investigations target? If you guessed conservatives, you’d be right.
They go after 100% legal tax strategies that have previously been explicitly blessed by even Democrat Administrations.
Things like captive insurance companies, conservation easements, and R&D tax credits. The end result- according to one conservative donor - is $3-4 BILLION per year that would otherwise be donated to conservative causes and candidates, but instead is being frozen by the IRS in practice .
The vetting crisis continues.

Wong’s widely circulated LinkedIn statement at the time declared he did not wish to be “complicit” in what he described as the Trump administration’s “consolidation of power.”. Wong, Salinger's partner according to social media posts, is the child of Lisa Bloom @LisaBloom and grandson of Gloria Allred, both Trump critics. Bloom and Allred each represented multiple women who accused President Trump of sexual misconduct. Bloom went on to represent Kathy Griffin after she displayed a gory scene of President Trump's severed head, which many viewed as a declaration of support for ISIS.

But the financial information is largely gone - and a concentration on markets, investing and economics has given way to Politico style blogging.
The Bureau Chief is a former Washington Post lefty who has hired former Politico and Huffington Post activists to cover economics.
It’s not working.
They have reporters now who don’t understand finance.
You open the app in the morning and all you see is political commentary and partisan attacks.
It’s become a paid Politico style publication and everyone knows it.

This is unacceptable, @elonmusk. Unless, at the very minimum, it includes a HARD opt-out for those of us who do not want this.
And it risks losing you customers. I'm a case in point. I've been budgeting for a full year Grok upgrade to Heavy, and to set up Cursor to begin learning and using GrokBot. I was going to do that THIS WEEK. Those plans are now on hold until I get more clarity on SpaceX/xAI's plans regarding this policy.
My reason is simple. As I'm confident is the case with MANY of your other customers, I'm a Grok and xAI user largely because I do not trust most of the other major AI companies and models. In particular, I do not want any interaction AT ALL with Anthropic or its products. I have a similar view of OpenAI, which I regard as stolen property. And I absolutely DO NOT WANT to have any information I may send to Grok "outsourced" to any of their models.
I'm tentatively going to assume, for now, that you will be making a follow-on announcement that of course there will be a HARD opt-out option for this policy. I still won't be sanguine about it, because the very existence of such a proposed linkage raises concerns about it being used inadvertently or accidentally. But I will be delaying my plan to go all-in on Grok Heavy and GrokBot until I know more about how this proposed "model outsourcing" will be implemented.
