The truth on any given subject is almost never found directly in the middle between two opinions (for example, let’s say conservative and liberal opinions). Most often, the truth lies more on one side than the other, and those that regularly seek to find a middle-ground truth are overly agreeable and guided more by (often unconscious) self-interest than virtue.

Anita Hill’s story was 100% a lie, and the American people knew it, with the NYT/CBS poll showing Americans believed Thomas 58%-24%, with only 26% of women believing Hill at the end of those hearings. CNN’s reporting on the mob of masked Islamists waving terrorist flags and cheering October 7th. “Zohran Mamdani received a hostile welcome from both Palestinian and Jewish groups.” You don’t hate the media enough.

I may be in a small cohort here, but I experienced October 7 and Charlie Kirk’s assassination very similarly. Not because the scale or facts were similar or comparable, but because they showed me with equal clarity who would cheer if my family and I were murdered. This understanding is now central to my politics.

The Romans thought Christianity was just a small sect. Irrelevant and weak. The entire empire became Christian in AD 380, and Rome is now the center of 1.4Billion Catholics.
