Should we ask scientific journals to drop their rigid standards to let every troll publish their wacky theories in the name of free speech and error correction? Entities need to be able to enforce standards to maintain a certain market reputation of credibility.

They’re not monopolies / utilities or the government so of course they can curate. Don’t confuse freedom of association with freedom of speech.

Good thing you don’t block anyone then

I will block you as you are either ignorant or willfully conflate the freedom of association with centralized censorship.

I think, the whole point of censorship is to correct the error and retry with valid constraints that platform have set for there users

Valid constraints is just a way of saying “censorship that I approve of.” We part ways here.

Free speech is necessary for knowledge. Suppressing a truth stops people knowing it is true. Suppressing a falsehood stops them knowing why it is false. Suppressing discussion of any sort stops the discovery of new truth.

Censorship creates two classes - the censors, who get to see everything, and the rest of us, who only get to see and say what they permit. @naval

Every other “right” is downstream of free speech.

That's why it's enjoyed by those who benefit from intentional errors (also known as crimes).

Censorship short-circuits the feedback loop for the one being censored. Plus it gives a false sense of validation to the victim even if he/she is actually wrong.

What happens when the error is intentional as a means to gain attention and influence and no correction follows?

also if censorship means some specific people having access to all data - how is it censorship at all?

Censorship is simply failure in acceptance and ego in action.

Censorship is ommittedly a political act. Those doing the censorship have their own aims, reasons, and ulterior motives. They claim it's for the public good. But it's never for the public good.

True. But error correction doesn’t work when people don’t believe there is an error.

We can not know what is wrong, therefore we can not learn from our mistakes. The cycle continues.

Censorship leads to curbing of innovation. If you can’t try anything new, improvement stops.

The free speech is just a surface level objective of Elon Musk. I'm certain he will positively revolutionise Twitter. The real reasons root much deeper.
Elon Musk is taking over Twitter! But why is he doing so? //Thread🧵\\

Story time to prove this point; I grew up in an actual cult. Many ppl wonder how cults exist in the 21st Cent. They think it’s all brainwashing. Partly true. But what it really is is the lack of free expression. All u need is bad ideas uncorrected to make all sorts of nonsense.
