It puts colonels and captains through realistic combat decision-making instead of just stacking staff jobs and polished evaluations. Eisenhower and Nimitz weren’t selected because they were good at Pentagon PowerPoint. They were selected because they could fight and adapt under pressure.🫡🇺🇸 Our troops deserve commanders chosen the same way. Well done, Secretary Hegseth.👏👏👏👏

FWIW this guy also went to Harvard. Shocking right? Working with some incredible leaders like @DerrickforVA and @JulesHurstIII, Luke has drafted more meaningful policy proposals, especially for the Army, than most in the Pentagon. Bureaucrats despise him. So I like him.

As a proud Virginia Military Institute (VMI) graduate and former active-duty U.S. Army Special Operations Forces Officer, I’m thrilled to follow in George Marshall’s (VMI ‘1901) footsteps to shape America’s officer corps. America demands senior officers that can build and sustain combat power, layer battlefield effects, and impose devastating costs on our Nation’s enemies. The Joint Warfighter Evaluation (JWE) and a departure from careerism are critical to this end and enhancing senior officer selection and assignment processes. Who we promote, and who we empower matters, and affects everything from recruitment, to retention, to readiness and quality of life. Aggressive innovation in talent-management is key, and we must not build a military that operates solely based on the last conflicts it had a positive experience fighting. We are not guaranteed such privilege in the future. This will elevate the ranks of military leaders at the top. No doubt the detractors will bitch & moan but you have to ask yourself, why would you not want rigorous standards for your General Officers & Navy Captains? Is it because you are content to see the U.S. military slide into mediocrity? Or is it because you are part of the political machine that has been systematically whittling away the advantages the U.S. military has over America’s enemies through the policy of “over-match” which under Biden’s autopen administration was downgraded to “parity”. I am not making this up: it comes from a U.S. military General who was told directly that the policy for U.S. forces in space was no longer er “over-match” - it was “parity” & there were multiple orders that I cannot disclose publicly that went along with ensuring that outcome. That is real. So is the fact that we left behind over $80 billion dollars of military equipment in the hands of terrorists in Afghanistan, including sensitive technology that had given U.S. forces a significant advantage on the battlefield - ie: over-match. Why would anyone do that when there was no one forcing them to do so? No reason to pull out in chaos & adhere to a timeline set by terrorists you could have crushed overnight if you had used a fraction of your advanced military capability? We are facing Americans, leaders within our own country, who have been actively degrading the American military and reducing our advantages on the battlefield as a matter of policy. Not an accident, not a mistake. Intentional.

A new Pentagon promotion test is putting would-be generals into simulated combat scenarios before boards decide who gets a star. The Joint Warfighting Evaluation will give eligible senior officers military problems to solve, with some versions featuring an AI-powered adversary that responds to their decisions in real time. "Right now in our current system, we have people that are very good at navigating their careers," Pentagon adviser Stu Scheller tells Fox News Digital, while stressing existing performance reports will remain the "bedrock" of promotion decisions. There is an Army saying you hear dozens of times when you make full colonel: "Congratulations, that's the last promotion you will ever make based solely on merit." The idea behind that saying is that when it comes time to compete for a 1-star promotion, you need a sponsor, and having a sponsor who sits on the promotion board matters, greatly. That's how we get politicized generals who support racist, anti-American nonsense like DEI. This is a great, great step in replacing politics with merit at our senior ranks. This is what a revolution in military personnel affairs looks like.

BZ @stuartscheller … what a great opportunity to make an incredible impact. I look forward to seeing the details of the new O6 EVAL criteria…and in a way, this might play into one of my long-standing “off the reservation” recommendations. No one should go to a war college until after O5 command. Yes, this would require a lot of changes and restructuring of legacy habits, but if we are going to have a crucible for O6s in the bucket to be the next 1-stars, what would be better than war colleges who help them get ready?

If this was done decades ago, we would have been in Afghanistan for 5 months and never invaded Iraq. This is generational change. BRAVO ZULU.
