A depressing response from the Deputy First Minister though, shrugging off any responsibility for ensuring that devolved functions for which Welsh Government have oversight (health, education) are legally compliant. Very poor.
There was a misunderstanding in the Senedd this week, but it was NOT mine!
When I reminded Deputy First Minister Sioned Williams that the law is not optional, she responded with a “fundamental misunderstanding” and pointed me towards the EHRC.
No, Deputy First Minister. It is not for me who has to write to the EHRC. My job is to scrutinise YOU: your policies, your decisions and your Government’s actions.
So, for the first time, I made our correspondence on women’s sex-based rights public.
The Supreme Court has spoken. Stop passing the buck. Implement the law.
