Virginia is getting ready to open the doors to recreational marijuana stores next year. Here’s what that will actually mean in your community: -Hundreds of marijuana stores. Virginia law allows up to 350 stand alone retail marijuana stores statewide. And there is no max cap on how many can be located in any one county or city. -Your community can’t say No. Your board of supervisors or city council can’t vote to opt out of recreational marijuana sales. -Weed shops close to schools. The default buffer between a recreational marijuana store and a K-12 school is just 1,000 feet. And local governments are allowed to reduce that buffer even further. -And these aren’t small quantities. A customer can buy two ounces in a single transaction. I opposed creating this commercial recreational marijuana market in Virginia. These draft rules give Virginians a much clearer picture of what it will look like when it arrives in their communities… Hundreds of stores. No local opt-out. Weed shops close to schools. Here’s something revealing I found while investigating the Office of the Attending Physician. Congress created this operation in 1928 after medical emergencies, initially requesting one Navy physician to be available during House sessions. Today, it has grown to nearly 50 people with 24-hour availability, and Admiral Brian Monahan himself testified that OAP “principally provides primary care.” Primary care. The House’s FY2027 proposal would provide nearly $5.5 million for this office. So why are taxpayers spending millions to provide Congress with around-the-clock primary care when Members already have health insurance and access to Walter Reed? And why are active-duty Navy medical personnel being used to provide it? That’s what I’m investigating.

The Boston Globe has just published a shockingly sober article about the nonexistent genocide supposedly targeting the transgender community. In it, they cite a report I coauthored showing that the murder rate is actually lower for trans-identifying people than the general population.
