Just over three weeks ago, I joined my @HouseGOP colleagues in voting to condemn and denounce socialism in all its forms and support only American citizens voting in our elections. This was an easy, commonsense vote, but unfortunately, 192 of my colleagues across the aisle chose not to support it. Virginia’s oyster growers are a vital part of Coastal Virginia’s economy and way of life. Unfortunately, recent algal blooms and low dissolved oxygen levels have caused significant oyster losses across our region, threatening both this year’s and next year’s harvests. That’s why Congressman @RobWittman and I sent a letter urging @USDA to assess the damage and determine whether affected oyster producers qualify for federal assistance. Last week the House passed the Water Resources Development Act to authorize the Army Corps of Engineers to conduct water resource projects across the country. This bipartisan legislation delivered several wins for #VA02, including support for critical projects on Chincoteague and Assateague Islands, as well as strengthening coastal resilience efforts across the Commonwealth. As the Representative of a coastal district, I always support legislation that strengthens our shorelines and protects our communities…!

This morning I joined base leadership and local veteran groups at @nas_oceana for a wreath laying ceremony at the Flame of Hope Memorial. Built in 1972, the Flame of Hope Memorial stands to honor the Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action from the Vietnam War. Today, it represents our commitment to remember the men and women that never returned home and to honor the families that carry their legacy. We will never forget their service and sacrifice for our nation.

Thank you to @RepMGriffith for highlighting my support of the “Promoting Access to Diabetic Shoes Act” in last week’s @HouseCommerce subcommittee hearing…! As a geriatric nurse practitioner, I know how unnecessary administrative barriers can delay patients from receiving the care they need. This bipartisan bill will allow nurse practitioners and physician assistants to meet Medicare’s documentation requirements for therapeutic shoes for patients with diabetes, helping streamline and expand access to preventive care…!

Before last week's roundtable, @SecVetAffairs and I visited Be Free Craft Café, a veteran-owned small business in Virginia Beach...! Founded by retired Navy SEAL Christopher Fettes, Be Free is a great example of how our veterans continue serving their communities long after leaving the military. Last week I was honored to be named a “2026 Hero of Main Street” from the National Retail Federation..! Small businesses and local retailers serve an important role in creating jobs, driving our economy, and providing employment opportunities across #VA02. Thank you to @NRFnews for this honor and I’ll continue working in Congress to support our small businesses to help them grow and succeed…!

This week, I met with @NFImedia, @SourceAmerica, @versability1, and @aemadvisor to discuss supporting American jobs, strengthening our workforce, and growing our economy. I was proud to host Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins in #VA02 for a roundtable with local veterans and community leaders to discuss how we can continue improving the care and services our veterans rely on. As a Navy veteran, I know how important it is that the VA listens directly to those it serves. Colonel Edward D. Shames was an American hero who served our nation courageously from the beaches of Normandy to the battlefields of Bastogne. I’m proud that my bill to name the Kempsville Road Post Office in his honor passed the House with bipartisan support yesterday. I just walked off the House floor after voting “YES” for the Ratepayer Protection Act! As data centers and other high-energy users continue to grow, this bill empowers state regulators to consider whether these high-energy users should help cover the cost of necessary grid upgrades. This protects ratepayers and hardworking families from paying the bill…!
