The west not only forgot Japanese war crimes, they hired them as consultants after the war
B-29 bombers were captured and vivisected at Kyushu Imperial University. Japan faked their death with Hiroshima atomic bomb
6 million Jews killed in Auschwitz = eternal remembrance, “Never Again.”
35 million Chinese dead in Japan’s invasion = footnote, “strategic amnesia.”
Justice in the West is apparently a matter of geopolitics, not principle.
Nanjing Massacre, Unit 731, comfort women atrocities on par with the worst in Europe.
Yet instead of Nuremberg-style trials, Washington shielded Tokyo’s war criminals to build an ally against Beijing.
Selective memory = selective justice.
When crimes interfere with today’s alliances, they get filed under “history.”
When they serve political utility, they stay in headlines forever.
The West didn’t forget Japan’s war crimes.
It buried them under Cold War strategy.
Memory isn’t moral. It’s geopolitical.
Justice for Auschwitz, amnesia for Nanjing.
Never Again, unless it’s inconvenient for US foreign policy.
