In the late stages of colonial empire, as you near the collapse of a brutal occupation, the carnage is most extreme, but the revelations are also extreme & come one after the other. Here’s another Oct 7 claim debunked. A survivor of the rave incident spoke to Israel Radio: “the terrorists did not harm us, they even gave us the opportunity to drink and calmed us down while we panicked.” "When the police came, they started shooting everywhere. Four people were dead outside, I think the police killed them. Then they arrested the gunman and opened heavy fire on the hostages and the gunmen, killing them all." Do these people think that Irish people in NI owe a debt of gratitude to unionists for being ‘allowed’ to celebrate their own music and culture, in own their own country? The Irish do not need the permission of unionists to be Irish.
Challenging the Sinn Fein Economy Minister that the generosity displayed by Unionists during the Fleadh in Belfast stands in stark contrast to the 𝐥𝐚𝐰-𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐧 𝐅𝐞𝐢𝐧 whose intolerance of Unionist culture is damaging community relations in Portadown.

Israelis get an annual statement. Yet 62 times more Palestinians slaughtered since. Twenty Oct 7ths of children since. But no "day" for a statement - no remembering. Welcome to the propaganda of the West where 9/11 & Oct7 are marked. Millions killed in retribution forgotten.

Somebody just retweeted this post of mine from Oct 7, reminding me of it and underlining the fact that the genocide began on that day also. It is not, as Israel supporters have suggested, somehow distasteful to talk about that. Israel was attacked and a genocide began. Both things are true. The genocide, though, continues.
Al Jazeera's @YoumnaElSayed17 live on air from Gaza as an Israeli missile hits what appears to be a high-rise residential/office tower. Her reporting has been outstanding today.

Apparently unionism and loyalism have suddenly become the eternal guardians of peaceful protest, restraint and the rule of law. Anyone with even a passing knowledge of NI knows how selective that version of history is. And this newfound horror at “mobs” gathering on streets is particularly difficult to take seriously from you. You were one of the prominent voices of the loyalist flag-protest FFS , a campaign built around people taking to the streets, demonstrations and road disruption. Some of those protests descended into serious disorder. And let’s talk about Drumcree. When loyalism didn’t get the outcome it wanted, NI didn’t simply witness dignified disagreement. We saw roadblocks, hijacked and burning vehicles, petrol bombs, attacks on police, widespread destruction and even gunfire. In 2000 alone, during protests surrounding Drumcree, RUC figures recorded 288 petrol-bomb incidents, 280 attacks on the security forces, 13 shooting incidents and 88 hijacked vehicles. Fifty-seven RUC officers and five soldiers were injured, while hundreds of vehicles and properties were damaged. People remember roads being brought to a standstill. They remember burning vehicles and barricades. They remember police coming under sustained attack. So spare everyone the fairy tale that loyalism has historically responded to decisions it dislikes with nothing but “great restraint and discipline.” There were occasions when loyalists didn’t merely stand on a road, they helped wreck the place when they didn’t get their way. And here’s the hypocrisy, that history does not make every unionist or loyalist responsible for those actions. You understood perfectly well that individuals were responsible for their own behaviour when protests involved your community. Yet today you take alleged offences by individuals and repeatedly smear an entire nationalist crowd as a “lawbreaking mob”. And now comes the remarkable transformation. After weeks of rhetoric about “Nazi-style” politics, “republican mobs”, “supremacists” and nationalist “hatred”, suddenly everything is about law, dignity, restraint and peaceful protest. It looks remarkably like an attempt to walk back the rhetoric now that the temperature has risen. The internet has receipts. The rhetoric didn’t disappear just because the strategy changed. If somebody commits an offence, investigate them and prosecute them on the evidence. Nobody gets a free pass. But collective guilt cannot suddenly become acceptable because the crowd is nationalist. And perhaps you might consider your own contribution to creating this atmosphere. From the outside, this increasingly looks less like leadership and more like someone who has spent weeks placing himself at the centre of a deeply sensitive dispute, escalating the language and enhancing his own profile in the process. You cannot spend weeks pouring rhetorical petrol on a fire and then arrive dressed as the fire marshal demanding everyone else explain the flames. And perhaps the most revealing words in the entire post are, “It’s time the State…faced them down.” There it is, old mentality that when one community refuses to yield, the State should simply “face them down.” History may be rather less flattering than the heroic role you have written for yourself You may imagine these weeks will record you as some fearless defender of loyalism who stood firm while everyone else surrendered. Others will remember something very different, armchair blogger who inserted himself into a decades-old dispute, relentlessly amplified the most inflammatory rhetoric, turned the temperature up, and then tried to distance himself from the resulting mess by suddenly discovering the language of restraint and the rule of law. That’s not fearless leadership, That’s a cautionary tale about what happens when you get in way over your head The rule of law didn’t suddenly become sacred when the people standing in the road stopped being loyalists.

France has been rocked by waves of student-led protests, and as we all know, mass demonstrations in a foreign country are proof that regime change is needed. France is no different. The protesters are demanding better conditions in schools, which they say are overcrowded, under-resourced and falling apart. Apologists for the French regime insist these protests are the work of immigrants. Any excuse to hate on brown people, right? My sources tell me that a staggering 17 million peaceful protesters have now been killed in France. Unfortunately, I have no evidence, and my sources are completely made up, but you must accept this as true. What I have is plenty of footage of French authorities brutalising teens, in one case causing a protester to lose an eye, and in another, blowing off his hand. Many of the victims are female, therefore I'm fully justified in making up a death toll. This is just how the media works. If you don't believe my latest figure of 212 million dead, I can only assume you hate French women. I haven't asked French women if they want to be liberated, but I'm sure they'd want us to bomb their bridges and power plants and maybe a girls' school. Shit, they'd accept us destroying their whole civilisation to escape the tyranny of Macron. French women are so desperate to be liberated from the regime, that a pretty Iranian woman pretended to be French, lit up a cigarette and used it to burn a picture of Macron. She looked really cool and got loads of clicks on social media. I'm therefore using this as proof that every French woman feels the same as this woman who isn't French. It's hard to believe that 712 billion French people have been killed, partly because it isn't true. Thankfully, the world isn't prepared to sit idly by. Iran has summoned the French ambassador to explain the sickening casualty rate and has demanded restraint. Excitingly, I'm told Iran has smuggled an enormous shipment of guillotines to French freedom fighters. It's like 1789 all over again x

People in the North are our neighbours, and fellow citizens - not an “obsession”. An inclusive Ireland embraces everyone on this island, nationalist, unionist or neither. Mary Kenny’s little-Irelander sneering mistakes a shrunken sense of nationhood for sophistication. 🙄
For years, for decades, Dev’s Irish Press was obsessed with Partition and the North. It became a government policy to mention it at every international gathering - known as “The Sore Thumb Strategy”. It was ineffective. Leo knows no history, methinks.
