The Senate Agriculture Committee has advanced the 2026 Farm Bill out of committee with MCOOL for beef included. 🇺🇸 This marks another major step forward in the effort to restore MCOOL, ensuring consumers can clearly distinguish American beef from foreign beef at the grocery store and giving American ranchers the ability to distinguish their product in the marketplace. The Senate has demonstrated bipartisan support. The president has demonstrated his support. American ranchers and consumers have made their voices clear. R-CALF USA has never wavered on MCOOL, and the work is not finished. We will remain vigilant as the Farm Bill moves forward and continue working to restore MCOOL for beef into law. #LabelOurBeef

I stand with President Trump @POTUS , but this “Ranchers First Initiative” feels hollow. He cannot deliver real cattle industry reform if he is not being given the correct information about what is actually destroying American ranchers. The BRAND heifer retention endorsement is still insurance not profitability. USDA has not explained how payments will be calculated, what herd information ranchers must report, who can access it or how that information may be used. Supporting independent American processors is important. They have been harmed by the same consolidation hurting ranchers. But the new SPUR program is still a guaranteed loan program. It gives processors access to more debt without fixing cattle shortages, labor and inspection barriers, operating costs, limited market access or the power of the dominant packers. More debt is not structural reform. “Encouraging” government institutions to purchase American beef is also not the same as requiring it. There are no enforceable purchasing percentages, clear sourcing standards or protections preventing dominant packers from capturing those contracts. This announcement provides: • No mandatory country of origin labeling • No negotiated cash trade reform • No reform of captive supplies or sweetheart formula agreements • No meaningful Packers and Stockyards Act enforcement • No restrictions preventing foreign beef from undercutting American producers • No expansion of interstate sales for state inspected beef • No meaningful PRIME Act advancement • No solution to crushing production costs • No mechanism returning processing and retail margins to ranchers I support our president. That is exactly why I am speaking up.
