to be fair I get why academia is mortally terrified of hiring conservatives the last time they did it was newt gingrich and he shattered a century of democrat domination of the house.

He would finally get elected in 1978, going onto become one of the most recognizable conservative firebrands in the history of the former Confederate States to that point.
He's still around and active in politics today, an avid supporter of the Republican party and Donald Trump.
