Building on a first phase that benefited more than 162,000 people, the Government of China and #UNDPinPakistan have launched a new phase of post-flood recovery support in Balochistan, in partnership with @dpr_gob. Anchored within UNDP’s flagship Flood Recovery Programme, the new phase will expand support across seven districts through agricultural and livelihood assistance, skills training, and targeted support for women. Together, the two phases of China-supported assistance are expected to benefit more than 270,000 people across Balochistan, helping flood-affected communities rebuild livelihoods, improve productivity, and strengthen resilience to future climate shocks. Stories of recovery took centre stage in Quetta, where H.E. Ina Lepel, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of @GermanyinPAK met women and men from flood affected communities of Hanna Urak. With @EUPakistan support, this partnership strengthened alternative dispute resolution across Balochistan by: 👩‍⚖️ Training 82 judges in mediation, including 33 now accredited 🏛️ Establishing 10 court-annexed mediation centres 📊 A study of five centres found 70–90% settlement rates, with disputes resolved in 2–4 weeks instead of months or years. 🇵🇰🇸🇴 Expanding access to inclusive digital finance and foundational ID systems Hosted by @UNDP_Pakistan and supported by @UNDPSomalia, a Somali multi-institutional delegation, including the Central Bank of Somalia and Somali Bankers Association, held a peer learning mission in Pakistan on #DigitalFinance and inclusion. The delegation engaged with @StateBank_Pak to explore identity-integrated finance models, and with @KarandaazPK on fintech innovation and #SME growth. Discussions with @TDEA_FAFEN, @CPDI_Pakistan and @AuratFoundation explored how community data can effectively connect women and marginalized groups to registration infrastructure. For many families in #Dadu, access to safe water remains a daily challenge years after the 2022 floods, often requiring long journeys and reliance on limited sources. With support from @KoicaPakistan and in partnership with the @SindhGovt1, #UNDPinPakistan is rehabilitating 10 solar-powered community water supply schemes, improving access to safe water for more than 16,000 people, including 8,800 women.
