25 years ago today, our nation faced an unimaginable tragedy. The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, represent the worst in our nation’s history, claiming 2,977 innocent lives, including more than 400 first responders.

Sheridan Gorman’s story is a heartbreaking reminder of why enforcing our immigration laws matters.
As we continue to secure our borders and protect our communities, this Buddy Bench in Washington D.C. will serve as a lasting reminder of Sheridan and her family, and of our continuing mission to ensure public safety.
Sheridan Gorman — an innocent 18 year old American girl with a bright future ahead of her — was senselessly murdered by an illegal alien.
This symbolic gesture on Capitol Hill honors her memory, and serves as a stark reminder of the unspeakable losses that result from open border policies.

On Sept. 15th, their joint operation intercepted a smuggling vessel and apprehended more than 20 illegal aliens, including 13 Chinese nationals.

The Southwest border remains secure.
New @CBP data shows that the Trump administration’s strong enforcement and @HouseGOP’s support have resulted in historically low illegal crossings, a decrease in drug smuggling across our Southwest border, and zero paroles of illegal aliens into the country by the U.S. Border Patrol.
This Committee will always support the men & women of @DHSgov who work tirelessly to ensure this success continues.

In the past year, the Homeland Security Committee has engaged directly with AI developers, critical infrastructure operators, security researchers, and government officials to better understand this rapidly evolving technology and the security risks that come with increasingly capable systems.
We must ensure America is prepared for the security challenges this technology may create while also ensuring America remains the global leader in AI.

🚨 FLORIDA IS A BORDER STATE.

I represent the Florida Keys in Congress, and as a member of the Select Committee on #China, I have repeatedly raised concerns about threats to our national security involving the CCP.
As enforcement has tightened along the U.S.–Mexico border, smugglers continue to exploit maritime routes into South Florida.
The Florida Keys are on America’s front line. 🇺🇸
NEW: CBP confirms to @FoxNews that they found & arrested 13 Chinese illegal aliens on a human smuggling boat near Key Largo, FL, first detected by CBP aircraft on patrol. There were 22 illegal aliens on the boat in total, including 8 Hondurans and one Dominican. The human smuggler was also arrested. The arrests were made near Angelfish Creek.
It is rare to see Chinese nationals trying to get into the US through this maritime smuggling route typically used for Haitians, Cubans, and Dominicans.
CBP statement to FOX:
“Attempting to enter the United States illegally by sea is extremely dangerous and will not go undetected,” said Executive Director Andres Blanco, Southeast Region. “This interdiction demonstrates the strength of our maritime partnerships and our commitment to stopping human smuggling organizations before they can put more lives at risk. Those who attempt these dangerous voyages face arrest, prosecution, removal, and the very real possibility of losing their lives at sea.”
