When you know the players on the inside, this makes total sense.
Re Joe DiGenova.
Reading between the lines from multiple "in the know" comments/sources here.
Resignation abrupt.
Supposed complaints about progress and pace, and questions about what's taking so long. Comments about "rabbit holes" and unproductive efforts.
Reports earlier this week of more GJ Subs having gone out -- if you're still sending out Subs that are going to take 60 days to turn around, then you're not close to indicting.
DiGenova comments about "charges without evidence" and ethical problems.
Now John Solomon references common DOJ disputes over access to resources.
My surmise -- WH and DOJ expected DiGenova to move the investigation into "end game," i.e., move from evidence gathering to indictments and trials. But now they see him wanting to go down other roads of inquiry.
He wants more personnel and money, and DOJ suggests if won't be forthcoming unless he puts something on the table.
WH to DOJ -- "Why is nothing happening in FL?"
DOJ To Joe -- "What are you waiting for? How much longer."
Joe to DOJ -- "We don't have what we need yet, we need to continue digging for evidence. I need more money and manpower.
DOJ to Joe -- "That's unlikely unless you show some actual progress in a public way."
Joe to DOJ -- "I'm not indicting people just to make the WH happy."
DOJ to Joe -- "That's what they expected when they hired you."
Joe to the World -- "I quit."
