🚨EXCLUDEDUK... ON THE MAP!!!🚨 A quick media heads-up for Wednesday 28 October, Budget Day. ExcludedUK has booked a digital video and audio advertising van which will be driving around Parliament Square and Westminster from 9am to 5pm, broadcasting campaign material throughout the day. The van will feature: • video clips of Andy Burnham speaking publicly about ExcludedUK and the injustice faced by those excluded from meaningful Covid-19 financial support • testimony from ExcludedUK members about the continuing financial, personal and mental health consequences of exclusion • ExcludedUK campaign messaging and calls for recognition, accountability and redress Our most prolific campaigner, Tim Pravda, also known as @ExcludedFighter, will be around Parliament Square throughout the day, together with other ExcludedUK members, and will be available to speak to journalists and broadcasters. So, if you or any of your colleagues are in Westminster covering the Budget, please keep an eye out for the van and for Tim and our members. We would be very grateful if you could also flag this with your political, Westminster, economics or newsdesk colleagues. After more than six years, the 3.8 million taxpayers who were excluded from meaningful Covid-19 financial support are still campaigning to be heard. If you would like interviews, background information, member case studies, video footage or briefing material in advance, please contact me. 🚨 IT’S FINALLY LIVE! PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE OUR EXCLUDEDUK PETITION 🚨 After waiting for it to be approved and published, I can finally say it: My Parliamentary petition calling for financial redress for the 3.8 million taxpayers excluded from Covid-19 financial support is now LIVE!!! ✍️ PLEASE SIGN IT HERE: petition.parliament.uk/petit… The petition calls on the Government to: “Establish a fair financial redress scheme for the 3.8 million taxpayers excluded from Covid-19 financial support, reflecting the support received by comparable taxpayers and businesses.” For more than six years, millions of people who dutifully paid into the system have been fighting to be heard. Newly self-employed people. Company directors. Freelancers. New starters. Those denied furlough. PAYE freelancers. People earning over the SEISS threshold. Those affected by maternity, pensions and other circumstances. People lost income, businesses, homes and financial security while others in comparable circumstances received substantial Government support. The consequences did not simply disappear when lockdown ended. This petition is our opportunity to show Parliament that the excluded have NOT gone away. 📣 WE NEED 10,000 SIGNATURES for a Government response. 📣 WE NEED 100,000 SIGNATURES for the petition to be considered for debate in Parliament. So please do three things: ✅ SIGN IT ✅ SHARE IT ✅ Ask everyone you know to sign and share it too Please share it on Facebook, LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp, email and anywhere else you can. Tag your MP. Tag journalists. Tag broadcasters. Tag anyone who supported the excluded. We need to get this in front of as many people as possible. After six years of campaigning, we are still here. We are still fighting. And we will continue until the 3.8 million excluded taxpayers finally receive the recognition, justice and financial redress they deserve. Dutifully paid in. OPEN LETTER SENT TO THE CHANCELLOR TODAY Yesterday Chancellor Rt Hon John Healey, wrote to me regarding his speech at the Labour Party Conference and how he is working to make Britain hope again. Today, in my roles as Head of ExcludedUK and Secretariat Secretary of the Gaps in Covid-19 Financial Support APPG, I have sent an open letter to the Chancellor. excludeduk.org/2026/09/29/op… The message is simple: The 3.8 million taxpayers excluded from meaningful Covid-19 financial support have waited long enough. I explained that Prime Minister Andy Burnham has supported our campaign for more than six years, describing the injustice faced by the excluded as “indefensible” and saying that any solution should be “fair, proportionate and doable.” Now we need those words to become action. I have asked the Chancellor to sit down with us. To listen to the bereaved. To listen to those still repaying pandemic debt. To listen to those whose businesses, homes and mental health were devastated. And to work with us on what recognition, accountability and fair financial redress should now look like. As the Chancellor’s own message said: “HOPE ISN’T SOMETHING WE WAIT FOR. IT’S SOMETHING WE BUILD.” The excluded have already waited more than six years. It is time to build that hope for them too. The APPG will be meeting next month to decide how to progress with our campaign, but none of us can do too much to ramp this pressure up to ensure we get the commitment that Andy Burnham has promised us for well over 6 years. Below is the open letter in full. Please forward a copy to your MP and local media. Ask your MP to join our APPG, which they can do by emailing admin@excludeduk.org to register. #ExcludedUK just want to say to @andyburnham .... you promised us your backing when you co-hosted this event with Head of ExcludedUK, Jennifer Griffiths, back in June 2024. We know these things take time AND MONEY... but one thing that is FREE that you can do NOW... is the apology we have been asking for! Surely FREE is the price you can afford in exchange for a full and frank apology about how we were all treated at the worst time in our lives? Surely FREE is the right price to posthumously vindicate all those who sadly took their own lives as they saw no other way out of the poverty and shame! As you already know, there are 40 lives lost to suicide that we know of... there will be so many more we don't! Please let the public know that we were not the tax dodgers that @RishiSunak and @BorisJohnson made out we were! Say SORRY to 3.8 million UK taxpayers NOW... please! Then email Jennifer at jennifer@excludeduk.org to arrange a meeting to take the work you promised to do with her and the team at ExcludedUK to revolve this injustice. Thank you excludeduk.org

Well! It's been quite the two years for both of us, Andy? Before @UKLabour took office You stood with #ExcludedUK, gave 3.8 million people hope and said restitution must be delivered. Now the silence is deafening. Will you NOW honour your word? @LibDems @theSNP @APPGGapsSupport
ANDY IS FOR US. NOW, AS PRIME MINISTER, HE CAN DELIVER JUSTICE. Andy Burnham has been the loudest and most consistent political champion of ExcludedUK since the beginning of our campaign. In his own words, which you can watch in the video below: “The support for you is strong and it will always be there, the reason being because the level of injustice that you have faced is indefensible.” He listened when others would not. He gave our members a platform. He publicly recognised the devastating injustice inflicted on 3.8 million UK taxpayers who dutifully paid into the system, but were deliberately left without parity of Covid-19 financial support when they needed it most. During his first speech as Labour leader, Andy spoke about putting political power at the service of people and places that had been waiting too long to hope again. He promised to bring back the hope. He also spoke about the Hillsborough Law and the importance of ensuring that people who have suffered institutional injustice are finally given truth, accountability and justice. The ExcludedUK community is one of those communities. More than six years later, thousands remain trapped by debt, lost businesses, lost homes, damaged health and severe mental distress. More than 40 people connected with our campaign saw no other way out than to take their own lives. Towards the end of his leadership speech, Andy also spoke about supporting British business and rebuilding the economy. That promise must include the company directors, freelancers, sole traders, newly self-employed people and small business owners who were legally prevented from trading, denied fair and equal support and forced to carry the financial consequences personally. These businesses did not fail because they were unviable. They were failed by government policy. Andy has taken part in ExcludedUK livestream events, listened directly to our members and repeatedly highlighted the need to secure justice for the excluded. During our livestream on 24 June 2024, he told us: “The public see you and the public support you.” He also promised: “We will work with you to make sure that the excluded is recognised as one of the injustices that this country needs to rectify.” Andy made his commitment unmistakably clear: “I supported you back in the pandemic, and we support you now. The passage of time doesn’t change that.” And he recognised the strength of our case: “The support for you is strong and it will always be there, the reason being because the level of injustice that you have faced is indefensible.” Today, Andy Burnham is no longer simply one of our strongest supporters. He is our Prime Minister. He now has the power to turn those commitments into meaningful action. For the 3.8 million, bringing back hope must mean recognition, accountability, parity and justice. Prime Minister, you have always stood with us. Now is the time to come through on your promise. Bring back the hope. Deliver justice for the excluded. excludeduk.org #ExcludedUK #WeAreNotGoingAway #Relentless

Sacha, you’ve long been a voice for us just as @andyburnham was. With @EdwardJDavey @LibDems backing my calls for Andy to honour his restitution pledge at CONF, the message is clear: after years of lost businesses, jobs and livelihoods, an #ExcludedUK lifeline must be delivered.
This is for the 3.8 million lives that were ignored. The freelancers and the self employed. The Conference are trying every trick to have this taken down…so I’ve just deployed large digital vans as well, to keep circling the area.

Hi @DaisyCooper @WendyChambLD @LaylaMoran @joshbabarinde. After days of 30+ MPs backing justice at #LibDemConf, @EdwardJDavey confirmed the Libs on a party level will call on @AndyBurnham to honour his words of redress for #ExcludedUK. @MP4Stratford @alpinkerton @APPGGapsSupport
WORDS MATTER… ACTION MATTERS MORE! On 24 June 2024, during an ExcludedUK livestream, @AndyBurnham spoke clearly about what could still be done for the 3.8 million UK taxpayers excluded from parity of Covid-19 financial support. He said: “I think there are ways we can start to frame financial asks that I think are fair, proportionate and doable.” More than two years later, those words remain just as important. Andy has consistently been one of ExcludedUK’s strongest political supporters. He recognised that what happened to the 3.8 million was not simply an unfortunate consequence of the pandemic response. It was an injustice. He told our community: “The public see you and the public support you.” He also pledged: “We will work with you to make sure that the excluded is recognised as one of the injustices that this country needs to rectify.” And he was unequivocal that time did not diminish that commitment: “I supported you back in the pandemic, and we support you now. The passage of time doesn’t change that.” Today, as Prime Minister, Andy Burnham is in a position to help turn those commitments into meaningful action. #ExcludedUK is ready to work constructively with the Prime Minister and the Gaps in Covid-19 Financial Support APPG to explore financial redress that is fair, proportionate and achievable. Because after more than six years, the consequences cannot simply be forgotten. Businesses were lost... and are still being lost! Homes were lost...and reposessions continue... Livelihoods and futures were destroyed.. yep! Still ongoing! More than 40 members of our community saw no other way out than to take their own lives....and they are only the ones we have been made aware of! The 3.8 million deserve more than acknowledgement of what happened. They deserve recognition, accountability and justice. Recognition is fair. Accountability is proportionate. Justice is doable. Prime Minister, the opportunity is now there to begin that work.
